Eh, I disagree. I liked Nate, and still do to this day.

Nate is great. They way he introduced the site here was thought to be in bad taste by numerous posters. Not by me in particular, I was one of the first subscribers to the site.

This is not true.

I'm a big supporter of Ben's but this may be his last year with the site. At our level its best to have a college kid, post grad running it who is looking to enhance his journalism background. You can't make money doing it, we simply don't have the fan support. Ben has moved past that stage, its hard to juggle a life, a full time job and a scout website. His coverage has waned but he still breaks a lot of stories, nobody else has his sources and is interested in disseminating the information in this market.

Well if he changed his policy then it has not been articulated on the board - however that was his position as posted by many. My comment was only in response to the post that wondered why nobody had commented on the new recruit name.

Per Ben Weixlmann, 2015 Jimmy Whitt has trimmed his list to Arkansas, Cal, Illinois, Marquette, Oklahoma, SMU, Oklahoma State, Mizzou, and Kansas State.

So the ship has officially sailed on that one. I wonder if the coaching staff would consider holding the last scholarship for 2015 and keeping it for the loaded 2016 class or if there is some assumed attrition with the big freshmen class.

Marquette in there hurts...

Not really. They aren't going to get him (Arkansas or Mizzou will) so they are just wasting their time and efforts. As coach Rick would say, he'd rather know we are out of it and move on to someone that is interested then waste time chasing something that won't happen.

As an aside, I've seen a few posts in the 2016 thread suggesting it would be impressive/not that bad if we finish 2nd for FBJT. That is complete bunk and I'd rather be ruled out now then finish 2nd. We are spending a lot of time and resources watching him every game so there is most definitely a sunk cost of not finishing first.

Good point... as long as they don't get him.

Based on various quotes and nothing else, I think we will be one of the finalists for Jayson as he seems to be strongly considering the impact of staying home. Fortunately Jayson is a St. Louis kid and plays alongside guys like Tyler Cook and Will Gladson at Chaminade, Tyler Cook, Jordan Barnes, and Xavier Sneed with the Eagles, and with other elite prospects in the various camps he has attended, so he should not be draining too many resources.

Does anyone know if we have any interest in 2015 sg Cullen VanLeer from Pacific? I have heard he played really well this summer for Gateway and proved to be one of the top shooters in his class. Next Blake Ahearn?

Is he a heady, gym rat, coach on the floor type of player?

Cook also received an offer from Marquette recently.

Cullen Van Leer - VC lists MO st, semo, and belmont as having interest. Some big 12 schools and mizzou have watched him. Haven't seen any interest from SLU. He has played well for Gateway this summer, very impressive shooter.

i hear we're actually looking at cullen crisp's kid out of the pacific northwest. we'd like to see him focus a bit more on his game, as he spends a lot of time climbing towers and setting up "lasers" to protect his family from the bad people, but he's got a lot of potential.

  • 2 weeks later...

Would love to see the Bills sign two this Fall. Who is most likely to commit?

Need to move on to 2016 class. Don't need to be trying to sign a recruit this Spring.

We already have one commitment, Eliott Welmer.

No other recruits seem close to committing based on what's been reported, but there could be a kid or two with strong interest that we are not aware of.

This stuff that is happening in Ferguson could be a detriment to SLU's recruiting. I hope it does not.

Uhhh no.

If anything it puts St. Louis into everyone's mind for months and years ahead. No longer will kids wonder where SLU is located or act like they never heard of us.

Mannnn The Lou is hot right now. Wondering how things will be when school starts back up 1f615.png

You really can't be serious, right?

Yes I am Serious. Already some tourists have changed their minds about coming here even though they would not be any where near Ferguson. It is the recruit's family who may be apprehensive. All they know is it is happening in St. Louis. Don't think other coaches are not reminding recruits about this.

RE: Ferguson, anyone with a brain knows that this disgraceful display of inappropriate thug behavior, rioting, looting, property destruction, the sense of terror being created will hurt the St. Louis Metropolitan area across the board to some extent.

It just remains to be seen if it will be to a minor extent, a significant extent or a major extent. We shall see as things develop.

Stupid, ignorant, out of control people harming others, destroying businesses, tainting the St. Louis area and our image. Yes, this includes Saint Louis University, it could effect some decisions if it gets further out of hand.

Maybe it will not be too bad. Maybe it will.

I hope the mobs somehow listen to intelligent people and stop this disgraceful behavior and patiently wait for the facts to come out ant the legal process to continue. Though, IMO our so called leaders seem to be out of sync, a clusterschtook.
