I believe when you blast somebody or some group you have the obligation to praise them when they do well. The story in today was outstanding - 2 nice pix and a very long and complete article. Now I know nothing else was happening last night so does this mean a change - probably not but what I will say is they have first start doing a good job once in a while before they can do a good job all the time.

By the, when will our flagship station - 101.1 - get on board. None of their shows ever talk about us and I heard an ad today with Mike Greenberg from Mike and Mike saying how happy they are to be on the air in StL and remember when 101.1 will always have all the stories about the Cards, Rams and Missouri - no mention of Blues or us. I just don't get it - Greenie was simply reading something I am sure 101.1 gave him.

Maybe stltoday.com varies from machine to machine, but on the sports section of the home page this morning, I still saw 7 Cardinals articles, 2 Rams articles, 2 Blues articles, and NO SLU article. It now shows a single SLU article as the last headline. Still unsatsifactory considering the success of SLU and the offseason for the major sports.

The coverage on TV and Radio has been good.

So do you or don't you like the Post Dispatch?

PD editors are awful. The morning after the SLU's game, you cannot even find a link to the SLU game article on the home page. Of course, there were 6 links to offseason Cardinals articles.

at least they gave us the weekly hour show. you would think the top 20 thing would make the town jump on board, everyone loves a winner.

One surprising thing about the PD, why isn't BM giving this team a column or two? He was always right there for RM and last year after his friend passed. C'mon, Bern, you owe your svelte new figure and healthy eating habits to the Bills. And while I understand St. Lou's a diehard Baseball town, 6 freaking off season articles/columns is way over the top. And it's an everyday thing. I'm figuring the only way the Bills get some ink in March, heat of spring training time, is to win the bloody national championship, and even then we'll probably make it up to third on the list of articles.

Glad the article was written. Was a little disappointed in it but maybe I expected too much. I feel like it had a little too many negatives in it to get the full point across.

Agree with whoever said that we need Miklasz to write an article or tweet or something. Surprised he hasn't done anything all year

To me it was an honest article. I'm not one of those that believe a columnist should be writing puff pieces on behalf of SLU just because (I'm not saying you are either).

We do have a problem with attendance and buzz. The reason is obvious as common sports fans just aren't going to get excited for St Bonny, Fordham, Richmond, George mason, Duquesne, etc.

We all know where we want to be, but until the BE comes calling this is our reality.

It's definitely honest and fair . I don't want puff pieces either I guess, but I just wish that his article encouraging fans and media to support SLU didn't have so many reasons not to support SLU.

Don't get me wrong though it was a good article and the attention is definitely good.

Exactly, the average attendance is up quite a bit from this point last year. SLU didn't sell out a game last year until the Butler game on Jan 31. The Billikens are nationally ranked at an earlier point this season and getting a lot more media attention earlier in the season as well. The "buzz" around the program is actually probably at it's highest point in decades.

Joe has some revisionist history in there about the New Mexico game that only had 6,782 in attendance (largely because it was on New Year's Eve).

Strauss should not have written this article about the Billikens having a great team and no one caring. He should have just written about them having a great team.

I really didn't see him offering reasons not to support SLU, he just said people aren't supporting them. He then gives his idea of what would create a buzz (i.e. a catchy label). I don't necessarily agree with that but at least its an idea. The majority of the article talks about how good of a team we are and basically says people should come out and watch.

Possibly. I'll read it again. Maybe it's just my dislike for Strauss telling me that it's not good

Didn't someone say VCU gives a bunch of tickets away for games to "sell out" or am I thinking of a different program? Nothing devalues your program quite like free tickets, a half a step down from Groupon.

Wearing SLU shirts in Peoria, while always a popular talking point, has become more about the basketball team and less of the "Hey do you know my random relative that went to SLU in 1994?"
