"Annual?"

Once you do something twice, it's a tradition

I think kshoe might have been right. They waited for baseball to end.

This was planned before yesterday, the band was asked to play, but yeah it seems like they didn't want to advertise too much before knowing the baseball schedule

I hope Tatum wasn't hanging with Drake at UK last night... For the old timers he's arguably the most popular rapper going right now:

Real easy stuff to compete with.. Not to mention the five-star hotels they put the players up in.. I mean dorms.. Here's a look at what Kansas will have to offer in '16-17: http://beta.sportingnews.com/article/4614646-kansas-basketball-dorm-photos-new-video-renderings-cost

So do you wanna live in a sweet a$$ new dorm in a wheat field with all of your fellow b-ballin' athletes and some great amenities like a pool table(!) and an in house court (gym rats rejoice!), or do you wanna 7th floor suite in Marchetti with a balcony overlooking the beautiful Midtown skyline with a view to the left of the gorgeous top ten American neighborhood, the CWE, and a view to the right of your "jewel of said Midtown" and the internationally iconic St. Louis skyline?

I'm just not all that impressed, although I'm sure this will seal the deal for somebody or the other.

Drake? Damn SLU will have to do something to one up this, is Ike Turner still alive? He's from STL right? He never ever does things nice and easy only nice and rough. Dude can swat a basketball.

If we could get Nelly to do a halftime collab with Cincy transplants The Isley Bros., we'd wreck havoc with Drake the State Farm agent. But I'd still miss the Chinese cyclist lady with the bowls on her head.

Red Panda retired, saddest news I've heard in a while. A true pro's pro

But there wouldn't have been a baseball overlap with November 1, even if the Cardinals had gone to Game 7 of the World Series. It would be nice if they announced these things just a little bit in advance. I'm going to have to miss this for the second year, since they seem intent on waiting until the last minute to announce them.

Nov 1 would have been a good date for a Cardinals WS victory parade though.

World Series victory parades are traditionally on Sunday afternoons. That was when the Cardinals had theirs in '06 and '11. And the playoff schedules are known months in advance, so rather than waiting to see how long the Cardinals last, SLU just could've scheduled this for n day when no NL playoff games are scheduled.

Just seems like the one season kickoff event deserves some more advance notice. It gives it a little bit of a throway event feel not to make the date official until so late.

  • 2 weeks later...

Bump. Event is this week and I plan on going this Saturday. Who else is planning on going? What do you estimate the attendance will be?

Gonna be there and am taking my 7-month old to his first Billiken basketball event. I'm sure he'll hate it, but whatever.
