Just watched Christian Williams help take his team to the championship game of the Illinois Class 2A State Tournament.. He is thin like the guards SLU has. He may have the same problems on defense in college because his team plays a zone defense. He can jump high but his three point shot was off tonight. He looks like a good ball player and could help SLU next year. He'll be on tomorrow night on www.ihsa.tv

Chicago Uplift had two players who looked better than Williams who had two critical turnovers in the fourth quarter, one in the last minute with his team down by three points. The ball was just taken from him. I saw him play only two games but it seems to me he would not make a BIG impact his freshman year. Not much better than Bartley was as a high school player, imo. His team finished second in state.

Wrong. Williams got fouls called on him. He'd be a starter as a wing right away. 10x better than Bartley, only similarity is they're both from Decatur. He'd be our best player in team right away.

I said he looked no better than Bartley did in high school and he is NOT 10 times better than Bartley was in high school. With the coaching SLU had this year, he would not be the best player on the team, at least not for long. Something would have happened to make him regress.

Going to be hard to scout new players at this point unless the player happens to be playing for a state championship. We were already looking hard at Milik in February this time last year.

Wonder if Donovan Franklin will get a serious look now. Doesn't have William's mid-range game but the rest of his offensive game is solid.

And Shawnee Heights (KS) point guard Tez Scroggins is still out there. He's the quicksilver penetrator the team is missing but not a reliable shooter beyond 15 feet.

Well...what's the plan now?

We don't officially have scholarships to give, but Williams was offered and prioritized for a reason. It's going to be an interesting spring, but coming off such a rough season, it sucks to wait for things to happen.

Well maybe we can pull someone interested in lots of playing time and thinking he may get it given our performance this season. There are all kinds of angles involved here. The issue is not to wind up with scholarships that cannot be filled.

Apparently, the staff is showing interest in Chicago Uplift's star player, Jeremy Roscoe. He was clutch down the stretch in defeating Christian's Williams' St. Teresa squad. Athletic combo guard who averages 14 ppg and 4 apg. Needs to achieve a qualifying test score.

Roscoe, a Class 2A Associated Press honorable mention all-state selection, has to improve his ACT score. He plans on retaking the ACT in April.

Saint Louis and Wisconsin-Green Bay both have expressed interest in Roscoe, Taylor said.

"I need to get an 18 on my ACT," Roscoe said Saturday. "I'm tutoring for it right now."

-if the kid becomes a Billiken I hope he becomes first team All-America
