anyone following SLU baseball closely?
gmerts replied to kevinfootes's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
>nick, if you guys had the pitching i think you would give >them a great series. but the truth is that the varsity team >would beat you with pitching. i like your hitters and >fielders though. i would bet that at least 4 or 5 of those >club kids could play a significant role on the varsity. Nick, I think your team needs an upgrade at the catching position. -
Rick Reilly on Majerus's Violations (from 2003)
gmerts replied to davidnark's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
He was on with Frank and Bob today. Appareently he is a friend of Majerus. In the interview he gave the quote that is now my signature. Here is the link to the interview http://kfns.com/vdDynamic/AudioBits/2-AudioBit2997.mp3 -
The Falcon's website says the 17's play in an adidas tourney in St. Louis this weekend. Does anybody know where this is at or when they play?

On the Ill side, E'ville, Mascoutah, and Breese C. lose
gmerts replied to VTIME's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
A newspaper reporter said that Mascoutah went scoreless for 11 straight minutes, including getting shut out the entire thrid quarter. That was where the game was won/lost. -
I wonder when Bernie went to an East St. Louis game

Nate, do you(or anyone else for that matter) have a schedule for the Fort Zumwalt South Tournament that is next week? It runs from 27-30 I believe. Any help would be appreciated.

>I've probably been to about 5 practices that last two weeks, >and its pretty obvious who the starting 5 (for Friday's >game) as well as top 8 are. > >Starting 5 >DP >KL >TL >LM >IV > >Coming off the bench (in the order I would predict) >BH >DB >HD >DM >OI >WB (walk on) >JC (walk on) >MJ (walk on) > >With JJ and AK down a lot of you are down on Luke Meyer >being the 5th starter. I realize your concerns/wants, but >if you look at how Coach Soderberg runs practices he usually >splits the sides up into Bigs and Smalls. Luke practices >with the smalls, or guards. The only time he is really >playing the "4" is back on defense and Coach has his defense >set up in such a way to keep the ball out of the lane or >"pack" as he calls it. So if the guys do their jobs I >really don't see this as a problem. > >Now I agree I would rather have a prototypical 6'8" 230lb >guy in there playing the 4, and we have that I think with >JJ. He is hurt right now and at the present time there >isn't too much we can do about that. > >I really see a breakout year for Polk. I know we were told >last year that his 3 point shooting looked great in the time >leading up to the first games of the year and he never >displayed anything close to that, but I'm telling you I have >a great feeling about him this year. With us running this >year, he can really use his quickness and more than likely >he is going to get a couple layups in transition. His >quickness really is a thing of beauty though. Comparisons >to Marquee in terms of speed I think is fair in his case. >But most of all, Polk really has taken the role of one of >the leaders on the team. He is vocal and really goes out of >the way to help the younger guys when they are having >trouble. > >I think this year, provided that we don't get any more >injuries, could be something truly special. Lets get off to >a nice start Friday night, both men's and women's teams. Shouldn't you be studying instead of watching basketball practice?

>poor coverage from a channel that couldn't broadcast shows >like Wayne's World shouldn't be a surprise. Apparently you haven't seen Chalk Talk.

They planted the flag becuase they thought that Mich. State ran the score up on them last year when they hung 63 on the Illini.

And so the influx of talent to Manhattan, Kansas begins.

>I guess he is a ***** for crying after playing his ass off >for 40 minutes and losing by two in the Sweet 16. If Adam >Morrison is a ***** then I would love for SLU to have a team >full of *******. I would consider folding with three games >remaining in the season with a potential tournament bid >*****. The problem was he didn't cry after 40 minutes of play. It was about 39 minutes and 45 seconds.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_blogs/ncaa_tourney/2006/ It seems a little premature to me to be ranking the 2006-2007 season but I was excited to see the SIUC Salukis crack the top 10. Good for them. FUTURE Billikens.com sponsor of Kevin Lisch
