Recruit (1/7)

  1. It is an easy 4 1/4 to 4 1/2 from SLU to Iowa City with 1 stop. 270 miles from campus to where the hawks play. GO SLU!
  2. By the time that SLU comes up here to beat Iowa even more of the road will be done. They will have the new bridge done across the river and another 7 or 8 miles.
  3. To be honest, I haven't seen him play since Easter. I do know that he is up to 270-275 and a lot stronger than a year ago. When I watched him play against Ian in April he seemed to be holding his own pretty well. He is anxious to get the season under way after sitting out last year.
  4. Having followed Iowa for many years, I think this Iowa team will be their best in many years. They return Horner, Pierce & Brunner and have added Adam Haluska a transfer from Iowa State that sat out last year. He started at State as a freshman 2 years ago. They have some depth and will be very athletice. That being said, team chemistry under Alford has been a problem. If he can get all oars rowing in the same direction, this team has the potential to win 20 - 25 games and be a top 20 team which will help our RPI after the win in December:)
  5. Broke down and bought the ESPN package lat night so that I could see the tournament up here in IOWA. AFter the win tonight I can say it's the best $69 I have spent in a long time.
  6. Thank you for the kind words. I agree, I'm biased, but I also know how much he loves the game and how hard he works. Monday he sprained his ankle and was told he would be out a week. Wednesday he was shooting free throws wearing a boot. Thursday he was back at full practice because he couldn't stand to sit anymore. He needs to get stronger, and he will.
  7. Practice is usually at 2:30 Monday-Friday and at 9:00 on Saturday. I hope to see Thursday, Friday and Saturday next week
  8. Try out for walk-ons was last Wednesday night. I believe that 1 for sure and possibly 2 was the outcome.
  9. Apparently Quinn's students aren't the only ones that didn't go to class.
  10. Any chance that we will be invited to replace BC?
  11. As parents we know our sons faults even if we do not want to admit them. We have lived with the good and the bad since 1st grade. We have seen the expectations that people have had for them because they were taller and therefore thought to be older and more mature. We die when they screw up and we celebrate when they do well be that in basketball or in life. What kills us is when they are judged by those that don't have a clue. Three years ago a young man in much the same situation as Bryce finished a summer league in Iowa City before his freshman year at the U of I. The press promptly reported that this 6'11 kid was too slow and too soft too ever play at Iowa. Well last year Jared Reiner was 2nd team all conference and the leading rebounder in the Big 10. It was a good thing he didn't believe what was written and that the reporter was not the coach. As parents we believe you when you praise our kids and think you are full of sh*^ :'( when you cut them down. We try to remember it is game-one we take seriously-but it's not brain surgery-nobody dies if we screw up (except inside and slowly). Go SLU!!!
  12. Thanks all for the warm welcome. Hi Ms. Frericks. We are looking forward to a fun year and many trips to SLU although I know we can't make all of the games. We have one daughter playing high school ball and a second playing 5th grade ball. We will be down often and should be able to catch 3 or 4 road games. Looking forward to Nov. 5th.
  13. I agree with your comments about coach. I was following his career long before he was following Bryce's. He is well known in the Iowa Conference of which Cornell College, Mt. Vernon is a member. He is very well respected here. I expect that he will do at SLU what he has done every where he has been. Take a little talent, add great coaching and finish with a team that some might think overachieves but that simply rises to its potential. GO SLU!
  14. No decision has been made. I don't expect coach to decide until after at least a couple of weeks of practice. Beside, you guys have information way ahead of me and I talk to Bryce at least every couple of days. What a pipeline you have!!!!!!!!!!!!!
