Recruit (1/7)

  1. Crews has stated a few times this year that McBroom is the strongest shooter on the team after picking up the dribble. I'd be curious if someone with more experience in analyzing our offensive sets has a reason for his decline in productivity but I don't think that the catch and shoot is necessarily his style.
  2. If this happens is there any way the band can make their students' stipend dependent on them showing up for it? Otherwise the turnout on national television could be embarrassing
  3. The Bonnies rushed the court (twice) after the game
  4. This was pretty upsetting to learn after seeing the promotion during the game.
  5. I hope someone can still help you out. I thought I would give you a heads up, it looks like tickets are getting pretty scarce. I had to do a bit of digging to find tickets for a friend who is coming to town to interview. The living social deal is sold out for that day and the Chaifetz arena website doesn't list this game as a featured game anymore so you have to dig to find tickets. Ticket Master shows the only available adjacent seats in the 100s level are behind the baskets. I hope it works out for the birthday boy.
  6. I just thought it would be unreasonable to make all 2,635 posters fill out 834,000,000 brackets and wanted to slim it down a tad... No, I just included them because Lunardi's latest bracket (1/16/14) had them in and I was reaching for a friendly chuckle.
  7. Hey Wiz just stop me when my assumptions go too far, The odds of getting a perfect bracket when randomly selecting the winner of the 63 games is 1:2^63. But as Bills fans we know a bit more than that... Assumptions: Just to get a starting place we will assume that all the 1, 2, and 3 seeds win their first round so we only need to pick the 51 remaining games We will next assume that all 4 number one seeds will win their second round game against the unfortunate 8/9s making it only 47 games to pick As Bills fans we all know that Mizzou will lose their first game bringing the number of games to pick down to 46 (sorry ABF) And finally, we already know that SLU will win it all so we can cut out 6 more games This takes us to picking a total of 40 games to get that perfect bracket. Now I am going to have to ask each of the 2,635 Billikens.com members to fill out 417 million UNIQUE brackets keeping to what we already know will happen (see assumptions). So get to work because on April 7th we will all be celebrating a championship and be much richer for having worked together. P.S. There is no concern for having to split the billion dollar prize with anyone else because no one in the nation will see us coming thanks to the Post-Dispatch keeping this little secret under wraps for us.
  8. I'm going to leave it up to someone else to post the in-depth synopsis but here is the link: 1/20/2014 "Jim Crews Show"
  9. I thought this was going to be my night. I spent three hours in neutral on I-55 near Litchfield today due to a few 18-wheelers getting tangled up by the wind. It is nasty out there.
  10. It took Kwamain time to catch back up to speed in 2011-2012 after sitting out a year. That was after having run the system for the two years prior to his absence. With that in mind I have been trying to keep the "glass half-full" concerning McBroom's play this season. He is no replacement to Kwamain but tonight he showed up and he topped off my glass. Does anyone else share my optimism or is everyone terrified of seeing him run into VCU? (Since I don't comment much I am just going to throw in this aside right now... It would have been very painful this season to watch the new rule changes go into effect if Ellis was still on the floor. We certainly miss him but I can't fathom how many more "@#$%^& referee" posts would be on these GDTs if he were still with us and tried to take as many charges with the new rules.)
  11. I can't remember if it was this thread or the previous one where someone mentioned off-center and vertical letters on T-shirts but I think the university should be more attentive to putting out new fashionable gear. The nicer and more fashionable the clothing is the more often people will wear it out in their community. I could complain that I want better Billiken gear for myself (which I do) but really I think it's in the university's best interest. From SLU's perspective it should be pretty simple... people pay the bookstore $20 for a t-shirt that is free advertising for the university. A story from last night to emphasize that point. So a girl who graduated from SLU with me in 2012 is now a PhD candidate at KU. Well last night she was out running errands and was wearing a SLU t-shirt and a high school kid approached her and asked her about SLU athletics because the baseball coaches have been looking at him. She gave SLU a great endorsement and she told me he seemed really excited about the prospect of playing at SLU. Moral of the story: A T-shirt she paid for helped advertise SLU to a high school kid.
  12. 3 things I am surprised no one has mentioned: 1) TV networks often do this selecting the better ranking from the AP or Coaches poll for the game they are currently showing. 2) Kentucky claiming the 1948 national championship. Of course people will make an argument about the waning importance of the NIT in the year that SLU won it (correct me if I am wrong) but wasn't the real drop in the credibility of the NIT due to the CCNY point shaving scandal in 1951? 3) SLU won the olympics in football.
