Listener of the Streets

Listener of the Streets (6/7)

  1. A showcase true. Will this game help our chances to get in the Ncaas? Maybe, maybe not. Playing a 100-200 ranked team on a neutral site won't move the needle on selection sunday. We have to schedule to get us an at large bid. A neutral site game against a middle of the road WCC doesn't do that. If Santa Clara is a top 2 team in the WCC then maybe it helps us. Otherwise I'd rather play 80-100 other teams as a true road game. Does the committee give us extra points for this? SLU is on the bubble, but they beat a low major team in South Dakota on ESPN so lets put them in. That conversation isn't happening
  2. Yes!!! I say he starts at least some games for us. High level talent.
  3. Santa Clara is a team we could set up a home/home with. Ask yourself if we did that would that be good? I think most fans would take that deal but not be too excited about it. A neutral site game is a rare opportunity for us to get a P5 team to play us. ESPN wants us on TV to help launch the season. Tell them to give us a P5 opponent or at least a Mountain West opponent. A decent WCC team is someone we can schedule any time.
  4. Goodwin was a consensus top 100 recruit but not a national story when he signed. More of a regional big deal. Gordon even less so. He had been as a high as top 10 player earlier in HS but his rating had fell significantly and he wasn't being recruited at a high rate anymore because of all of his red flags.
  5. "potential" is the key word. ESPN is bringing us in to play a televised neutral site event. Why play a possible quad 1 or 2 game when we should get a guaranteed Quad 1 game. No matter what they have coming in or returning, a couple bad losses in their bad conference and Santa Clara is not a good neutral game on our schedule. We have very few opportunities to get Quad 1 wins, why take a chance on one that could just as easily turn into a quad 3 or 4? But this loser mentality thinking is coming from a couple posters who still wish Ford was the coach.
  6. I'm sure Santa Clara is putting together a top 25 roster. Get real. We have the hottest coach and one of the most marketable players in the country. Santa Clara is pretty underwhelming.
  7. Says the person who posted in it and helped get it pushed into the top 5.
  8. Santa Clara??? Guess you can never turn down the opportunity to play 109th ranked team from a tiny conference on the west coast at a neutral site 8 hours from home.
  9. The Sanford Pentagon hosts some big time college basketball games during the year. Usually just single neutral site matchups. Last season as part of the ESPN basketball tip off Auburn played Baylor. The year before Baylor played Gonzaga in a natal championship rematch. It will be an opportunity to face a big time opponent in a neutral site that we should be able to travel to.
  10. I live in the single wide subdivision.
  11. Hugely overlooked prospect. Big guard with real PG skills. Can fill it up, is a big time scorer. Like Kwamain give this kid the keys to the car on day 1.
  12. It has already started. We are going to let a group of toupee wearing has beens who can't write a complete sentence create the new nickname for SLU's newest star, the biggest national star for SLU since Easy Ed. We can't let this happen. Step 1 submit your best ideas in this thread. Let's have some great suggestions by the time the press conference hits and flood social media with the best one and force Bernie, Frank, and the Bens to submit to our nickname. If that doesn't work I have 4 cases of clown noses in my Amazon cart ready to ship today to the offices of the Post Dispatch, 590, 101, and KSDK.
  13. Goodwin's 3rd season as a pro is over. In 40 games with Phoenix Goodwin averaged 5 ppg, 3 boards, 2 assists, shot .389 from the field and 28% from 3 while playing 14 minutes a game. His best games for the Suns came in late November and early December. He had a 14/7/5 against the Knicks and a 16/5/6 game against GS. Goodwin got regular minutes well into December, then once the Holidays hit he started seeing more and more DNPs until he was traded away to the Nets. After his release by the Nets he was signed to a 10 day by the Grizlies which they then turned into a 2 way contract for the remainder of the season. In 17 games with the Grizzlies Goodwin had 12 starts and averaged 29 mpg, with 10 ppg, 8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. His %s took a hit shooting only .350 from the field and 63% from the line. He also had 1.5 steals a game. His best games for Memphis was a 13/12/7 performance in a win over Milwaukee, a 10/19/5 game in a loss to the Spurs, and a 23/17/4 game against the Lakers. Goodwin's contract is over. He is now a restricted Free Agent. Memphis can make him a qualifying offer and then has the right to match any other offer from a team or they can renounce his rights. Currently Memphis owes over 150 million in player salaries next year, while also having one of the top picks in the draft. They have a logjam of players at the wing and guard position. It appears unlikely that Memphis will be resigning Goodwin at this point. Most likely his rights will be renounced and he will enter free agency.
