Drew is Transferring

Recommended Posts

Washington St also didn't redshirt him, robbing him a year of precious playing time.

Lets not jump off the depend yet. No one on here has any clue what went down. Nor do I. But to jump to all these conclusions is pointless

And what if he stops going to class and hurts our APR? It's a ###### situation but it is what it is. He was going to struggle to get playing time in the next few years. Limited handles and no shot.

I assume that is a HUGE part of why it coincidentally happened today, after exams were over.

If, BIG IF, this was done to clear space to bring in two good players, everyone on here's going to forget Drew's name in a NY minute. Does anyone have an update on the KY situation, ie overrecruitment? With what Calimari has coming in, I recall he'd have to clear about 2-3 spots yet don't know if anyone's been released or announced their transferring. I can guarantee you KY fans, and don't want us to be compared to them, won't lose any sleep over who leaves. Will defer to Kshoe that the timing is strange, but their may well be two sides to this story. 1.) JD didn't see much chance of playing time. 2.) JC's got two guys ready to sign and needed the scholie. Yeah, it sucks, but this is big boy basketball and nice guys finish last. At first blush, my guess is this came down to some combination of the two reasons cited above.

What most surprises me about this is Taj Mahal '79 didn't call it about two months ago. :)

Ben w also tweeted:

@BWeixScout: Hearing few more in Midwest, too. RT @JeffRabjohns IUPUI, IPFW, Ball St, Kent St, FIU. among schools interested in SLU transfer Jared Drew.

So he'll be fine.

Your assumption would be correct

Lol, I decided I'm going to start leading off with I assume all the time.. :).. If I'm gonna call people out on it from behind a computer screen.

I did e-mail his name, you can't beat a name like Drew at Valpo, to Valpo asst coach, Luke Gore. I don't know if there will be any consideration or if he already heard this info.

Just retweeted by Drew:

why do things always happen to the best people?

Retweeted by Uncle Deuce

I would bet my life's savings that this was not Drews idea. Crews better have two studs waiting to sign tomorrow. As someone pointed out earlier, I do believe that there are two kids who want to come play for SLU with only one spot open, thus Drew had to go....

but what do I know.

Roy, I think you are taking this news well. I thought you would come unglued hearing Drew was transferring. I realize we don't know the reason, but speculation surrounding this stuff is usually negative.

I'm not taking it well. But what's the use of giving my thoughts. Way too much koolaid on this board to have a real discussion.

If this is the case I will concede that this is yet another example of the unintended consequences of the APR system.

While it'd be nice to bring in 2 recruits who I believe would both be better than Jared Drew, I'm not a fan at all of the timing of this. I'm also going to assume that Jared probably doesn't want this, but that is speculation. I feel really bad for the situation he's been put in.

Come on Roy.

There has been a lot of "real discussion" on this.

It seems that a third of the posts are not happy with him being forced out another third want more info on what happened and another third are waiting to see if the Bills bring in two more players.

You're confusing him with The Old Guy who has personal insight on every recruit in the country. He PM'ed me the other day with info on what Strawberry had for breakfast, which ironically was Frankenberry cereal, 2 peices of toast, one with blackberry jam and the other with boysenberry jam. He didn't eat any strawberries because that of course would be canabalism. He's aware that we like werewolves, not cannibals.

Hey sulfanskip, I found your attempts to put me down for my posts about Remy amusing, to say the least. Why did my posts riled you so much is something I cannot fathom. Let me tell you something that is real, although you may not know it: developing estimates of personality profiles from scant information is something that can be learned and applied to multiple uses. In fact it is used in may different types of jobs and businesses. All you need to have is the training to do so. I stand by what I said about Remy, he will come to SLU only if he perceives we offer what he is looking for, not just minutes of play.

Maybe we should wait to see how this plays out and actually get a couple facts about the situation before we draw any conclusions

Besides whether the last two schollys get filled what other facts are we ever going to know? SLU won't talk about it and drew probably won't either. There will likely be some bad mouthing of drew by a select few but otherwise it will just be forgotten.

I hate to bring this up because some people are so sensitive to the topic, but those that subscribe to ben's site know how it went down.

And it is confirmed, not Drew's idea:

RT @KyleNeddenriep: Former Cathedral forward Jared Drew transferring from SLU, but said it wasn't what he'd planned. http://indy.st/140LadU

http://blogs.indystar.com/recruitingcentral/archives/3552

“I was completely blindsided,” said Drew, a 2012 Cathedral graduate who redshirted last season. “I don’t believe they handled that situation as well as they could have. (Crews) basically told me I’m not the right fit for what he’s trying to do. I’m moving on, though.”

You need training to realize a kid will come here only if we offer what he is looking for?

Where do yoy receive such training, common sense 101?

First you can tell what a recruit's personality is based on the fact that he tweeted religious things now you can garner that Drew has a bad attitude because he shoots 3s and dunks during warm-ups?

You're quite the judge of character.
