Recruit

Recruit (1/7)

  1. Wow...college hoops lost someone very special. Thanks for the links. I followed the career of Mr. Majerus very closely. Unfortunately I have to admit it is not until he is gone that I fully appreciate him. These links are pretty powerful. Damn... I am really rooting for you guys this year. Good luck. A Friend from UConn country
  2. I am truly sorry for your loss as a fan base. My thoughts are with all the Billiken fans tonight and in the future. I think the team may rally. Best always guys...
  3. Kevin Ollie is who Calhoun wants as his replacement. He is being groomed by Calhoun to be the next UConn head coach. The AD wants a full search. Ollie would seriously consider the job if offered and would be a big time recruiter. Several 4 and 5 star recruits are hedging on UConn right now waiting to see if Ollie will be named the coach in waiting. I think this would be a good fit for KO.
  4. I wanted to thank everyone who took the time to respond to my post and add insight into this years Billiken team. As you guys know UConn with Kemba Walker went from a season in which they missed the NCAA tournament the previous year to a National Championship. UConn was also unranked in both the pre-season AP and Coaches Poll prior to their improbable title run in 2010-11. Some of the details of what it took to make that happen really focus on some great intangibles. My dad is a former high school basketball coach in the state of Connecticut. We have had strong ties to the New England basketball scene for years. More my dad then me. My career has taken me to NYC. Rick Majerus no doubt is 1 of the top 3 coaches in America. At the risk of sounding overly opportunistic I can envision the weekend of April 6, 2013 as a surprise bratwurst fest. I loved this last paragraph (all of it) it made me smile: "The pros outweigh the cons, but as we've all seen this means squat come March. Ask Duke and Missouri (Mizzery or Mi$$ouri as we say on here), the road to the final 4 is loaded w/ land mines, ied's, cinderellas, and witches w/ an army of flying monkeys. Still, it should be a fun season for us Billiken fans and we'll take on new fans any time, just as long as they don't hail from Columbia, MO. Welcome aboard. Billiken gear available thru our bookstore or the athletic dept's official site. Our mascot alone will make you unique in NYC." Alex Oriakhi may hail from Columbia now but NOT this new very interested Billiken observer. The Billiken mascot is priceless and I have done my research. After a health diagnosis that has helped put life in perspective I can use the "good luck". Hopefully as the season progresses we can all share strategies and insights on the team. I wanted to respectfully defer to the fan base before giving my 2 cents. Once again thanks to everyone who responded to my thread. I like this fan base already.
  5. This is my first post and just wanted to introduce myself. I live in NYC and was born in Connecticut. Most of my life I have been a die hard UConn fan. UConn is ineligible as you well know for both the Big East Tournament and the NCAA tournament. So I want to find a team to have a strong rooting interest in this year. Maybe even see a few games. I have some feelings on the Billikens chances this year and the prospects of this being a dream season (Final 4). Many have predicted Saint Louis to win the A-10. Here are some basic general questions I would like to ask the board: 1) How do you think the Billikens match up against VCU? I believe Saint Louis and VCU will fight it out for the A-10 title. 2) What are the strengths and weaknesses of this 2012-13 Saint Louis team? I am an avid follower of college hoops. Give an arguement for Saint Louis making the Final 4 this upcoming season. What seed do you think they need to get a favorable draw to get there? I think the chalk is vulnerable this year. Louisville has to be #1 in my opinion pre-season although I know some talking heads like Indiana at #1. I know my questions are pretty general and probably have been discussed here already but I look forward to contributing on the message board during the year and enjoying some of your schools success. I love finding a good darkhorse or underdog to get to ATL. Each year in September (pre-season) I like to put together a top 25 of what I think the final AP/coaches poll will look like right before the NCAA tournamnet starts. Basically predicting the last top 25 poll before the season starts. It is fun and did it on the UConn board last year. Good luck!!!
