Recruit

Recruit (1/7)

  1. http://www.sport-fm.gr/news.jsp?newsID=48818 So you can rest your heads, Ian told the Greek Sports Newswire that going back to Greece is his last resort and that if he isn't sure to get drafted he will be back for a 4th year at SLU. He even said himself that he's not in great shape right now to compete but that he isn't stressed about anything. He's just in Orlando for an experience....
  2. Hello, only 2nd post from a greek basketball junkie... I've been following what teams are looking to do in greece over the summer and after the world championships in Japan in terms of recruit. I think Ian's best move would be to stick with SLU unless he can guarentee 1st round nba draft. The problem with greece (am sure Ian knows about this since he's played there) is he could get playing time in a mid or low table team, but getting paid on time, crapy facilities, idiotic managers who only care about money, hooligans at games is an issue. The top 4/5 teams in greece are well organised, play in europe and have many US and European internationals. Panathinaikos showed some interest, they are a top 6 team in europe....but honestly he is not guarenteed time. They depend on experienced international players and young guys just end up rotting on the bench in greece.....sooooo many talented greek guys fall in that trap. Ian will improve more by staying 1 more year at SLU. I'm sure Ian will consider all this.
  3. 1st post, just a greek basketball junkie. Read about what Ian has done the past couple of years and suprised me. He really wasn't that good 3yrs ago but obviously improved a lot - so thanks to SLU. About him coming back to greece...you know greece ain't nowhere near as bad a place to play as some of the posts suggest here. Greece has a very strong league, and they won the European National Champioship last summer. The league is full of talented players from Serbia, Croatia, Lithuania and the US and is the best place to play along with Spain, Italy & Russia. A lot of players in the nba played in greece before moving: Peja, Marco Jaric, Smush Parker, Antonio Davis, John Amichi etc..... so Ian could be thinking Greece and then NBA. Rumours here suggest the Panathinaikos is looking at him, but he isn't the first option. I doubt he will make the national team for the world championships in Japan, he's probably the 3ed or 4th best centre right now and at power forward we have some real talented and strong guys....he'll have to waite.
