3star_recruit
When you get the "best players available" instead of getting the players who fit what you want to do, you get the unintelligible mess we've seen this year. Everybody wants skilled, athletic basketball players. But Crews also values high IQ players and high motor guys. But of the 12 guys that see time, how many of them actually fit into both of these categories? If we're really going to have two transfers after the season, it's imperative that the coaching staff bring in two players who fit into both of these two categories. Coaching is hard enough without having to change the entire mindset of your players. Better to let the players police themselves. But you have bring in enough talented players who are "your guys" to make that happen. Brett Jolly isn't going to do it. Your best players need to be an extension of the coach. slufan13
Interesting topic. Since we have not seen any obvious identity this year, I'll have to trust that the staff does have something in place. I'm no Crews fan, but I'll side with him and his quotes about "buying in" and "trusting" the system. Maybe Crews is just too old school but it seems like he's struggling to get his point across this season whether that's his fault or the players'. I'm always for recruiting the best player but I think we have some pretty serious holes on our roster that need to be addressed.

hsmith19
Gillmann seems like a high IQ guy, even if not a high "motor" guy.

I am curious as to the basis of this statement, and do you mean Jolly doesn't have the right mindset or won't police his teammates? Why don't you believe Jolly "isn't going to do it."? Not agreeing or disagreeing. I just want to know your reason.
brianstl
On to the Crews old school topic. Has it been confirmed that pot lead to Glaze being totally separated from the team? How many other programs would that happen at today? The academies and that is about it. Most places a first time offense is a couple game suspension at most. Well its also a guy who is injured as a senior and had never really produced. Any sort of infraction was probably an easy way to say see ya. If Yarbrough got caught smoking in Jim Crews's office by his mother, Crews, and Biondi - probably a 3 game suspension.

They take their cue from the starters. If your best players are throwing the ball away, not boxing out, etc. self policing becomes impossible. Sounds like they found something so they could get rid of him. Milik could murder four young children and rob a bank and be on the floor next week.
