Aaron Hines

Congrats to AH. I was impressed, especially with his tenacity on defense, at the open practices. I wonder if this means that JC is finished with 2016 recruiting or if this is clearly for one year only.

Hopefully AH becomes another John Redden.

I'm sure this is a Daniel Lisch type of deal for one year since we had an open scholarship. BTW, after watching the practices last week he deserves it.

I would agree, I was watching practice in general focusing on Welmer and Neufeld, and when ever I saw a smaller guard shoot, or make a good play, I kept hoping it was bishop, but it would be Hines. He had one drive where he rose and hung in the air just missed the shot, but he can elevate.... He may well have played his way into the scholarship. Crews comments on the video seem to imply he has been teaching and passing on info, I presume to Bishop. That kind of teammate is priceless....

Tony LaRusa always said do not fall in love with a player in spring training. The reason he said this is that a player can look like a stud and then fizzle during the year. I would be careful about falling in love with Hines from the 3 open practices. I would expect him to better than Bishop given how Bishop is clueless to what is going on at this point. Let him gain the benefit from this year but it should not grow into a multiple year schollie - we need players.

Every player is a one year deal. This is the way things are in the NCAA. You don't offer kids 4-yr schollies.

To put it in pro parlance, kids are offered 1 year deals with 3-year mutual options.

The only difference being that Aaron had probably been told he likely won't have a schollies next year, where anyone else wouldn't find out until next spring.

I understand that schollies are only for a year at a time - my point simply was do not turn an offer to a walk on into an offer beyond this gift year. I also was responding to those who seem to be getting a bit enamored with him from the 3 open practices results.

Apparently, the coaches are getting enamored with Hines as well as he started tonight and played 32 minutes.

Currency converter shows 100 Bahamian dollars equal to 99.86 US dollars so it is almost exactly one-to-one. If this is a video from Nassau, there you go. I assume everything has to be imported in such a case. This seems to be the case worldwide in my experience ---- Hawaii was high too when I was there. A non-meat pasta dish in Zurich cost almost $75 US dollars against the Swiss Franc.
