Good point, didn't Paul Eckerle bounce from academic to athletic scholarship? Paul was a smart kid, probably 3rd or 4th year in Med School now, is Berry that smart?

Paul is very, very bright. I am not sure on the scholarships but his parents would have no problem paying tuition. Not sure about Berry.

Today in the Fort Myers News Press... said Nolan would be in Dunk City today through Thusday visiting FGCU. They have a position available.

Said he would also visit UC-Davis, Loyola, and SLU

Agree, lets wrap up 2015 recruiting with NB. A year with the team as a walk on would be awesome.

I would love to have him as a walkon with a year to hit the weights n work with the coaches. He could emerge as a nice player, for a good team.

There are other ways to get aid to a student and how do you know that he doesn't quality for other tuition aid? Either way, he has to sit out a year. What is the difference if the gets an athletic scholly or some other scholarship or aid to pay for next year? Hope he visits and comes to SLU.

I highly doubt Nolan would be a walk-on and we don't have a scholarship. Hence, he will not be attending SLU. Agree with those that say we should move on.

I doubt the information about him visiting SLU is accurate.

We have Welmer coming in with one of our scholarships next year. I don't think using the other one on Berry would be a wise move. And even if Nolan were a walk-on for one year there it would be highly improbable he would do that for four years.

I think this is a case where one line in a story will mislead the fanbase. We shouldn't read into them saying he will visit SLU.

We've only got one scholly to give for 2015. Not to be mean, but I'm hopeful that we can find a better player for that scholly than NB, even if the far fetched idea that he would walk-on for a year was a possibility.

Yeah, I guess you are right. And after JM and GG leave our roster follows:

PG & SG = AB, AY, MR, MB, DR

SF = MY, MC (don't see MC as a true guard)

PF & C = BJ, AG, TL, RA, EW

Looks to me we need some more athleticism. With that I would love to see SLU get a 6'6" or taller swing man who can handle the ball and shoot. SLU would really use a player who can hit the 3 or take it to the basket. SLU already seems to have a NB type player in TL and EW.

Doesn't that describe Yarbrough, who I believe is listed around 6-6? If we want more "athleticism" on the frontline, I would like to see a shotblocker - a WR type of player without the knucklehead factor. Agree, that there doesn't appear to be much need for a player like Berry.

What the F is wrong with you? And what the heck does your comment mean?

Just throwing out my thoughts. That is what this board is all about! Discussing SLU basketball and its future.

My comment makes a heck of a lot more sense than your worthless, derogatory comment.

Start posting constructive comments about SLU basketball and stop putting down other posters who are trying to have some fun by talking about our favorite team.

:D

Why does anyone respond to WV anymore? He doesn't live in the real world

Nolan Berry reported to be training very hard this summer in a washbasin. Reported that he has learned to turn around and face the other way in the washbasin. Still having trouble holding a basketball whilst turning around, though. And he's still wearing five finger toe shoes. Tried basketball shoes the other day and got horribly frustrated. Mom is bringing meals 5 times a day, snack packs at random as a reward for minimal grunting. SLU keeping an eye on the situation, but I think they're looking for someone that can easily step out of the washbasin.

I agree w/ Ace, would like to see us land a 6'8" to 6'10" WR type as well. With the exception of WR, however, a lot of these types choose to go elsewhere. So, here's hoping RA turns out to be that athletic PF we all drool over.

Sounds like he needs to have himself a Jolly Summer.

That guy just tweeted back at me saying he didn't even know SLU was out of scholarships.

FWIW Florida Gulf Coast is also out of scholarships now after signing a transfer from UNLV.

So Loyola then? Per their Verbal Commits page, it looks like they still have one scholarship left.

I would love for Berry to come to SLU as a walk-on, but I don't think they should guarantee him a future scholarship.
