“I feel like we’re the best all-around players on the team,” Yarbrough said. “We can play inside-out, guard a lot of people, rebound, pass. So, I think we relate to each other well. He likes us in the game together because we like finding each other and getting each other open.”

He is a very good athlete. The above comment may not be perceived well by all.

This year's group seems to be a little cockier than the strong silent types we had over the past few years. It's sure to rub some people the wrong way but I kind of like it. Humility is overrated in athletes. I'll take Reggie Jackson on my team over Willie McGee any day.

Give me 10, 13, and 6 and he can say whatever he wants. And you know what, he's right

This also reminds me of the time Grandy promised multiple double doubles after his excellent game against SIUE.

I think MY's a different player than GG. Like the kid's confidence, but he may be getting ahead of himself. One game does not make a career.

I hope MY's ability to find the open man from the post continues - should allow for a lot of open shots for AY, AM, MC, etc... Also, many of those passes were very athletic plays - it is something we did not have last year. Dwayne was very good but sometimes robotic and never a willing passer from the post. A team total of 17 assists is great.

Maybe this should get its own thread but I have a beef with SLU MBB. Why can't our AD post a highlight package of a game and the press conference within a few hours of said game's finish (especially home games)? It seems most other program do this for all games and it would only be a boon for the program.

All fine in a sport like baseball. Not so good in basketball when you are more dependent upon your teammates.

As long as someone doesn't sleep with someone else's gf I am okay with the swagger. You really think that the other Freshmen are pouting because he is confident about himself? Please. These guys are competitors and want to win. MY is not being selfish on the court in the slightest. We should be thankful to have a player like him as opposed to one who comes in as a stud in high school and then perpetually yields to other teammates for 4 years.

Also Miles and Roby likely are more comfortable being part of a winning team not lighting up the stat sheet. Gillman and Jolly seem to be playing like they know what Crew's wants their roles to be. McBroom has his hoochies (complete with a new clothing line) so he is content.

MY seems like a kid ready to capitalize on his enormous potential...more power to him.

In spite of comments 2-6 of this thread, this type of comment can serve to divide a team that depends on teamwork. It's fine that MY thinks this way, more power to him and yes many of the other players would probably be playing better if they had the swagger of Milik, BUT for a FR to be making comments like this just shows poor judgment and as Steve said in post #7 this is a good example of why RM put the muzzle of FR.

Public humility, at least for a FR, should be the rule even if cockiness is what is felt internally.

I'm sure his teammates just loved being cut down in the media. I would bet that JC has a one-on-one with MY and at the same time gets a message through to the rest of the team that the TEAM is 12 players, not just the "Y" guys. They need to look to get all the other players open, not just each other.

He didn't cut down his teammates. He said that he and Ash have the best combination of rebounding, passing, defending, and playing inside/out. This is a fact. Outside of Gillman, I don't think anyone else even has an argument. Maybe Roby or Reggie will in time, but they certainly don't now.

Isn't crazy how Gllman has gone from the afterthought of the recruiting class to one with some of the highest hopes? He just has a fantastic skill set for a center.

I think part of why Gillman is amazing to watch is the comparison to Manning. No offense to Manning but Gillman is light years ahead of him in finesse.

What a pleasant surprise.

I loved that high/low pass he made yesterday to (I believe) RA. Right on the money. Also, he is a big man with a nice touch.

He's a better passer than most of the guards.

JC's grand experiment is finally paying off, kids are starting to emerge now that they have a feel for the game, as planned.

It has been against weak competition, though, and it is still a rebuilding year, let's face it.

My only criticism for the program, going back to the RM transformation, is our weak out of conference scheduling, though it is a risk of more losses on the front end, it attracts stronger recruits and more fans in the long run. And we need to get into the new Big East.

Oh well, let' s enjoy Yarborough and Gillman and Crawford and the kids that are showing us something.

Not only that, but the fact that he has added 15 lbs to his frame just shows how hard he works and how determined he is to get better. Add another 15 lbs and we are looking at an absolute stud center.

I don't see it as cutting down his teammates at all. You'd have to be pretty sensitive to take it that way. It's not as if he said Manning's own mother would choose him over John if her life depended on getting an offensive rebound, or McBroom should try out to be a mall Santa's elf, or Bartley needs to stop hurling passes into the sixth row, or Roby couldn't hit sand if he fell out of a camel. Even though all of those things have been said on this message board many times...
