Eric Curry has eliminated SLU from consideration. His final 6: Arkansas, Alabama, Iowa State, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, SMU.

Given that final 6, it is hard to imagine we had any chance with this kid once Tatum eliminated us.

Arkansas is going to be an interesting program to follow this recruiting class, their roster is taking massive hits.

Mike Lewis is quietly, steadily collecting offers. Last time I checked in, he'd just gotten one from Duquesne. Since then, Wofford and Evansville have offered.

I like what I've seen from him this summer. He's got the potential to go to a school we might see and burn us. I won't invoke the ghosts of any former non-offers who have done so; we know who they are.

Did Mike Lewis cut his list? I am excited to see him play this fall and see the reported improvement he has made to his game.

Offers

Dashawn McDowell: PG, 6-6, 183, Oklahoma City, OK (Southeast)Offers: SLU, Cal, USC, SMU, Houston, Tulsa, Florida Gulf Coast, Weber State. Interest: Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Wake Forest, K-State, TCU, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Baylor, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Arizona State. Latest News: McDowell visited SMU and plans to visit USC this fall. He had committed to Tulsa but then reopened his recruitment. Scouting Report: McDowell is a tall, athletic point guard with solid court vision and ball skills. He can score at the rim and has a good mid-range jumper. Twitter: @YoBoySmooth

Cortez Mitchell: SG, 6-2, 185, Jackson, MS (Pearl River CC)Offers: SLU, VCU, Jackson State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, Louisiana-Monroe. Interest: Creighton, Kent State, North Dakota State, UALR, Hofstra, Jackson State. Latest News: Mitchell reported a July 12th SLU offer on Twitter. The Juco Report Elite 150 was held on July 11. Scouting Report: Mitchell is a scoring-minded guard with a nice pull-up jumper. He averaged 14.6 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 2.9 APG his freshman season at Pearl River. Twitter: @SniperTez2

Charlie Moore: PG, 5-10, 160, Chicago, IL (Morgan Park)Offers: SLU, VCU, Illinois, DePaul, Cal, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Memphis, Ole Miss, Pitt, St. John’s, UIC, Nevada. Interest: Mizzou, Xavier, Creighton, Loyola-Chicago. Latest News: Moore picked up a SLU offer after coaches watched him play with the Mac Irvin Fire this summer. Moore likes Iowa and Illinois a lot and will be visiting Iowa City soon. Scouting Report: Moore has serious scoring ability from the point, but also likes to run the offense. He’s a strong outside shooter and very elusive with the ball in his hands, able to dribble or pass in traffic with ease. He has a dangerous crossover and is a deft passer. Twitter: @Charliem_2

Interest

Kostas Antetokounmpo: 6-6, 190, Milwaukee, WI (Dominican)Offers: Iowa State, Memphis. Interest: SLU, Marquette, Kansas, Florida State, Maryland, Minnesota, St. John’s, Texas, Wake Forest. Latest News: Antetokounmpo has been making the rounds this spring and summer, getting to as many camps and events as he can and drawing a lot of eyes. Iowa State was first to offer but many, many more should be on the way any time now. Scouting Report: Every coach in the nation should be keeping an eye on the younger brother of the Greek Freak. He’s still growing and looks an awful lot like his older brother, with his albatross arms. He’s raw but the upside is virtually unlimited. Twitter: @alexadetokoubo

Deon Barrett: PG, 5-10, 150, Lancaster, TX (Lancaster)Offers: None. Interest: SLU, Richmond, Oklahoma, Creighton, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Houston, Bucknell, Central Michigan, Fresno State, Louisiana Tech, UTEP, North Texas, Montana State, Albany, Long Island-Brooklyn, Arkansas State, Nebraska-Omaha, Abilene Christian. Latest News: Barrett continues to draw a lot of eyes, but still no offers. He played well at the Lone Star Top 100 Camp this weekend. Scouting Report: Barrett is quick on both ends and runs the floor extremely fast. He isn’t afraid to launch threes. Twitter: @kdotcash

Eddie Ekiyor: PF, 6-9, 215, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (New Hampton)Offers: St. Bonaventure, Xavier, Georgia Tech, Oregon, Vanderbilt, Florida, Tennessee, Miami, Virginia Tech, Providence, Wake Forest, K-State, Villanova, Duquesne, UMass, Arkansas State. Interest: SLU, Duke, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, Syracuse, San Diego State. Latest News: Ekiyor was charged in a hit-and-run incident in August. The effect this will have on his recruitment remains to be seen. He played extremely well this summer, racking up offers. He had planned to make visits, narrow his list down, and make a decision in September. He said Xavier, Vandy, Oregon, K-State, Florida, and Wake Forest are working the hardest. But that timetable will probably shift to the spring. Scouting Report: Considered the top uncommitted big man in Canada’s 2016 class, Ekiyor is an excellent rebounder and shot blocker, but can also score. Twitter: @Eddie_Ekiyor

Tarkus Ferguson: SG, 6-3, 180, Belleville, IL (Althoff) - Offers: Western Kentucky, SIUC, Indiana State, UIC, Missouri State, Evansville, SIUE, UMKC, Tennessee State. Interest: SLU, Cal, Indiana State, Missouri State, Evansville. Latest News: Ferguson has had a nice showing with the SW Illinois Jets this summer and picked up offers from many Valley and Valley-level schools. Scouting Report: Ferguson is a stud athlete who can fill up a stat sheet. He needs to work on shot selection. Twitter: @T_Ferg15

Will Gladson: PF, 6-8, 190, St. Louis, MO (Chaminade)Offers: SIUE, IUPUI, Brown. Interest: SLU. Latest News: Gladson picked up an offer from Brown after a solid showing at the Peach Jam. He visited IUPUI with Mike Lewis in June. Scouting Report: Gladson was on the high-major radar early in his high school career but proceeded to tear both ACLs in consecutive seasons, considerably slowing him down. He remains a skilled, smart big man with good post moves and a consistent jumper, but development has been slowed by ACL tears in each knee in consecutive seasons. Twitter: @WILL_to_win_11

Elyjah Goss: SF, 6-7, 195, Bolingbrook, IL (Plainfield East)Offers: Western Illinois, IUPUI, Lewis. Interest: SLU, Iowa, Northern Illinois, Loyola-Illinois, UWGB, UMKC, Fairfield, Wofford, Sam Houston State. Latest News: Goss has attended camps at SLU, UWGB, Loyola, and NIU. He has played well with the Illinois Celtics this summer. Scouting Report: Goss is athletic, bouncy, and active on the wing. He has a 6-11 wingspan and high ceiling. Twitter: @ElyjahGoss

Kieran Hayward: SG, 6-5, 187, Sydney, Australia (St. Joseph’s College)Offers: St. Joe’s, Rider, Fairfield. Interest: SLU, Michigan State, Virginia, Butler, Gonzaga, Creighton, LSU, Arizona State, SIUC, Valpo. Latest News: SLU, Butler, and Gonzaga watched Hayward at NY2LA Summer Jam 2K15. Fairfield was the first offer (this July) and the others soon followed. LSU and Valpo are showing high interest. Scouting Report: Hayward is a good shooter who can adapt to any pace of play. He’s consistent from the perimeter, but loves a step-back mid-range shot, too. He’s a smart player and excellent passer with a high motor. He goes to the basket hard and with a lot of confidence, and is a good dunker and finisher. He wasn’t on many radars prior to this summer but came over to play in a few events and has opened a lot of eyes. Twitter: @KieranHayward0

Clayton Hughes: SF, 6-6, 190, Jackson, TN (University) Offers: Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Butler, DePaul, Rhode Island, Central Florida, Murray State, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, South Alabama, Central Arkansas, William & Mary, Liberty. Interest: SLU, Mizzou, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Virginia, Notre Dame, Belmont. Latest News: Hughes has set unofficial visits for UCF and William & Mary. Scouting Report: Hughes is a dangerous shooter who can handle the ball, finish strong above the rim, and make outstanding passes off the dribble. He’s a deceptive athlete with an unusual-looking form. Twitter: @ClaymaneeeeYooo

Sha’Markus Kennedy: PF, 6-7, 185, Tuscaloosa, AL (Northridge)Offers: None. Interest: SLU, Richmond, VCU, Murray State, Wright State, South Alabama, Samford, Troy, Tennessee Tech, Texas-Pan Am, Texas-Rio Grande Valley, Abilene Christian. Latest News: Kennedy was invited to attend the Southeast College Exposure Camp (8/1 in Birmingham). He visited UT-Chattanooga last month. Scouting Report: Kennedy is a true late bloomer, pretty much an unknown until this spring, when he had some good showings on the Adidas circuit. He’s a natural shot blocker despite being undersized because he’s long and has outstanding leaping ability. He’s also a good rebounder. Twitter: @elite_dunker

Michael Lewis: SG, 6-2, 170, St. Louis, MO (Chaminade)Offers: Duquesne, Evansville, Illinois State, Central Michigan, IUPUI, UIC, Eastern Illinois, SEMO, Wofford, ETSU, Nebraska-Omaha. Interest: SLU, Xavier, Kent State, San Jose State, Boise State, Eastern Kentucky, Nebraska-Omaha. Latest News: Offers have steadily rolled in over the summer; Lewis received an offer from A10 rival Duquesne, followed by Wofford and Evansville. Scouting Report: Lewis is an undersized shooting guard sometimes relied on as a PG by Chaminade. He is an extremely reliable, poised outside shooter capable of hitting big shots. Twitter: @MikeLewisII

Zion Morgan: SG, 6-4, 180, Chicago, IL (Kenwood Academy) Offers: DePaul, Western Michigan, Northern Kentucky, UIC, Bradley, Loyola-Chicago, Bowling Green, Valpo, Chicago State, Fairfield, Hampton. Interest: SLU, Michigan, Indiana, Butler, Creighton, Cal, Northwestern, NIU, UNI, Western Illinois, Yale. Latest News: Morgan picked up a Valpo offer on his unofficial visit there. Scouting Report: Morgan is an athletic player and very active defender. He’s a combo guard who likes to penetrate to create easy shots for himself or others. His outside shooting is improving. Twitter: @ZMamba1

Jerry Myles: PG, 6-5, 201, Davenport, IA (United Township? Sunrise Christian, KS?)Offers: Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Creighton, Loyola-Illinois, Illinois State. Interest: SLU, Illinois, Kansas, Wisconsin, Northern Iowa. Latest News: Myles was not on the United Township roster for a summer event. He hasn’t spoken to the head coach there in over a month and showed up at an event playing for Kansas Pray & Play, with Sunrise Christian listed as his HS. But the latest tweet about him suggests he’s returning to UT. His situation remains a mystery, as always. Scouting Report: Myles is a big, athletic guard with the ability to take over a game. He’s a strong defender, shooter, and passer. He started his career at Davenport West, transferred to Sunrise Christian (KS), and is now at United Township on the IL side of the Quad Cities.

Skyler Nash: SG, 6-5, 205, Chicago, IL (Riverside Brookfield) - Offers: Kansas State. Interest: SLU, Wisconsin, DePaul, Marquette, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio State, Indiana, Iowa State, West Virginia, Yale. Latest News: Nash had a cancerous tumor removed in May. He is in remission but is being monitored regularly and requires quarterly colonoscopies. Nash has visited SLU, Michigan, DePaul, Purdue, and Marquette, and many others are interested but haven’t come through with offers. He transferred from Whitney Young to Riverside Brookfield for his senior season and is considering prep school afterward. Scouting Report: Nash is a strong, physical wing who finishes strong and rebounds the perimeter well. Twitter: @NashSkyler

Dru Smith: G, 6-3, 180, Evansville, IN (Reitz)Offers: Evansville, Indiana State, Ball State, Northern Kentucky, South Alabama. Interest: SLU, George Mason, Butler, Loyola-Illinois, Bradley. Latest News: SLU has shown interest in Smith lately, checking out recent AAU games. Smith said he’s waiting through July before planning 2-3 official visits. So far, he really seems to be responding to Ball State’s in-state recruiting message. Scouting Report: Smith has a thick frame for his age, causing him to frequently guard forwards on the defensive end despite being a combo guard on the other end. He’s a high energy player who does a little bit of everything. Twitter: @dru_smith_12

Ashton West: G, 6-2, 180, Blue Springs, MO (Legacy Charter, Greenville, SC) - Offers: Davidson, Murray State, Cornell, Miami-Ohio, Weber State, Jacksonville, San Diego, Cal State-Bakersfield, Liberty. Interest: SLU, VCU, George Washington, Mizzou, Marquette, South Florida, Kansas, K-State, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Utah, Colorado, Vanderbilt, Cal, Rutgers, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Gonzaga, Southern Miss, SMU, UMKC, Belmont, Morehead State, Weber State, Florida Gulf Coast, Eastern Kentucky, Robert Morris, Brown, Norfolk State, Jacksonville State, Gardner-Webb, Binghamton, Stony Brook, Idaho, Idaho State, Tennessee State, Georgia State, Delaware, NC Central, Abilene Christian. Latest News: West will take an unofficial visit to Vandy in August. He will be attending Legacy Charter School in Greenville, SC. He has bounced around to at least three different high schools. SLU was first reported to show interest in West around late October. The level of interest picked up in the fall, but it’s tough to tell which offers and interested schools are still active. Scouting Report: A pass-first guard and good outside shooter, West is limited athletically but sat out a whole season with 3 torn ligaments and reclassified as a 2016 recruit. Twitter: @AshtonPG3

Here's an interesting one: Eddie Ekiyor, the very well-regarded 2016 recruit out of Ottawa (SLU interest, offers from Xavier, Florda, Vandy, Oregon, Tennessee, and many more), was charged in a hit-and-run incident that injured an off-duty police officer.

Maybe that will scare away our competition.

You know how this works after the AAU season. We'll hear crickets until a big kid appears in September for a campus visit and is offered a schollie.

Anyone hear of any scheduled visits coming up over the next month? Be nice to take some recruits to a Cards/Pirates game this weekend.

Haven't heard of any scheduled visits, but wouldn't be surprised if Lake Forest's 6'7 PF Lorenzo Edwards visited at some point. Solidly built, long-armed youngster with an improving offensive game. Played second fiddle to former Billiken target Evan Boudreaux. Had a good July.

A few updates:

-Dashawn McDowell is currently visiting SMU. They appear to be the leader.

-Charlie Moore announced the dates of his official visits; Cal on 9/11, Pitt on 9/18, Illinois on 9/25, and Memphis on 10/2. Iowa was thought to be one of his leaders; he may visit later. It's safe to say that despite SLU's offer, the Billikens don't appear to be in the mix.

-Will Gladson will be visiting Princeton and Brown in October.

-Elyjah Goss committed to IUPUI.

-Keiran Hayward really blew up on his AAU team's summer tour in the US. Last week, offers from Arizona State and LSU came in, among other smaller schools.

-Clayton Hughes is currently visiting Central Florida.

-Mike Lewis is visiting Duquesne this weekend.

-Dru Smith just took an official visit to Northern Kentucky this past weekend; Ball State (where Jason Grunkemeyer is the lead recruiter on him) is next.

Confirmed SLU's interest. New profile:

Lorenzo Edwards: PF, 6-7, 210, Lake Forest, IL (Lake Forest)Offers: Loyola-Chicago, Tennessee State. Interest: SLU, Georgetown, Cal, Valpo, Boise State, UC-Davis. Latest News: Tennessee State offered in July as Edwards had a good month on the AAU circuit with Meanstreets. Scouting Report: Edwards is the son of 11-year NBA veteran and former DePaul star Kevin Edwards. He has a wide frame and long arms, and had microfracture knee surgery last spring. His coaches said he’s improved dramatically in the past year. His dad is on the staff at DePaul but they agreed it wouldn’t be a good fit. He plays alongside 3-star Dartmouth recruit Evan Boudreaux, forming one of the Chicago area’s most imposing frontcourts.

Moore is growing on me. I still think he was a guy you could wait on, but at least he fits with what Crews is trying to do (height at the guard spot, shooting, etc).

Technically I guess we have no scholarships left for next year? I think we all assume Hines' scholarship was a one year deal but if he gets significant minutes this year, I would assume he'd be back on scholarship next year? Then again if he gets significant minutes you'll likely see at least one transfer. You'll probably see that anyway.

So from what everyone says, Moore has a high ceiling but his floor appears to be very low too all things considered. Is he a 6'6 Mike McCall or is he Jake Barnett with an attitude issue?

In July of 2013 or even 2014, I would have taken a chance on a kid like that. Our roster either was or appeared to be in good shape. You can risk a guy like that. Instead you have a roster that is just not very good, showed few flashes of being good, and even less signs of consistency. To me that's not the kind of roster makeup you can have to take a chance on a guy like this. If he turns out to be a 1000 point scorer and an All A10 Player, you still have to build the rest of your roster. If he turns out to be a bench guy, you just have one more spot on your roster that you have to fill.

that updates your view?

Basically I've heard a couple more people say he's an elite shooter with size. All the same stuff but maybe an attitude issue. But the bigger thing for me is that he clearly fits what Crews is trying to do. I saw that in the open practices. Like I said, I still think we could have waited, but if we aren't going to land top talent, we need to at least land guys who fit the system.
