brianstl
Grandy is not coming back. We don't need him and that would only muddy the water. Hopefully you had your tounge in your cheek when you wrote that Are you related to Old Guy?

hsmith19
What if we get Dennis Smith Jr and Harry Giles to also come to SLU to join the Eagles since Tatum is talking about a package deal. Then we could have a Fab 6! That would be awesome! Too bad we only have 2 scholarships to give otherwise this surely would have happened. Once you get six, it should be pretty easy to convince Malik Monk and the rest of the ESPN top 12 to jump on board the super-team. You just have to be extra careful when faking your boundary maps or you'll end up like Jackie Robinson West.
billiken_roy
Order of probability: Tatum Barnes Sneed Cook Tillmann You should add current h.s. junior Tarkus Ferguson to the list. Tarkus is better right now than any current returning billiken guard.
Dwayne's_World
The 2016 talent pool in STL runs deep. I would be heavily disappointed if we don't get at least one or two of these local guys. What would that say about the state of our program?
Old guy
Are you related to Old Guy? I confirm that Irishdude is not related to me in any way, although we share the opinion that Grandy is better off staying where he is now, out of SLU's team. aj_arete
It's possible that when Mizzou bought those billboards in Atlanta/Georgia a couple years ago it included a ban on all SLU related content from being allowed in that state (unless we happen to be playing on ESPN). Kind of like the internet censorship you see in Iran and China. That would definitely explain why SLU information is only able to filter through via PowerMizzou. Actually, there's some truth to that. When I moved to Georgia, I actually got more access to Mizzou games than when I lived in Missouri. I don't have access to CBSSports on my cable package, so getting SLU games would be hard. Yes, I could have reviewed ESPN recruiting websites on SLU, but didn't take the time to do that. My access to St. Louis sports consists of STLToday and you know that means a lot of Mizzou news and limited news on SLU. Admittedly, watching SLU and Mizzou basketball games was a difficult exercise as both had trouble putting the ball in the basket. However, there's always a new year. If I can survive Ekker basketball, then I can survive one blip of basketball this season. Then I get reminded of the small-minded of people on this board, so my trips here have been sporadic over the years. Admittedly, it's not much better on Tigerboard either. It's the culture today. aj_arete
This thread was started by a guy who has no idea how many scholarships we have because he is in Georgia. It has got to be very tough to keep track of SLU down there. Hopefully some day in the future it will be possible for Billiken fans throughout the country to be able to watch games or gather news about the team through the computer. Until then, at least for now, he still has PowerMizzou as a good source for SLU rumors. I get it. I come off as a pompous, know-it-all, who was initially critical of the Majerus hire. Not because I thought he wouldn't be successful, but because I didn't see the fit within a culture of SLU basketball which I thought stood for purity within the shady world of college basketball. Of course, I came to this conclusion based on the constant swipes at the scandal-ridden Mizzou basketball program, which were well-documented and deserved. I got slammed for it for pointing out what I thought was hypocritical. Criticizing Mizzou for hiring shady coaches, like Quin Snyder and Frank Haith, is fine, but then you hire a coach guilty of NCAA sanctions because you know he'll deliver wins means to me that you can't be as critical of other programs. Yes, I realize that Majerus ran a clean program since then, other than running a few non-performers off the team, but that wasn't known when he was hired with significant baggage. Yes, I'm a fan of Mizzou and realize that they don't run a pristine program, but then again you would never hear me slam KU when their players get in trouble with the law. It would be hypocritical to do otherwise because those that live in glass houses shouldn't cast stones.

Good to hear from you aj - always enjoyed our past debates. Interesting that you heard this "fab five" talk on the Mizzou board. I seriously doubt that there is a any likelihood of this happening as many others have stated, but it is an interesting topic. I just wonder where this idea really originally came from. Idle speculation is easy to start, especially on these internet boards, but sometimes there is some basis in fact however distorted it may be. I would ignore the intolerant jerks on this board. Most of the people are pretty good, but there are some who are very myopic and always spoiling for a fight. You know I hate Mizzou, but I subscribe to the philosophy of hate the sin, love the sinner, so I can hate Mizzou, but still get along with (reasonable) Mizzou fans. Clock_Tower
Is there any truth to the possibility of many of the current members of the St. Louis Eagles, including Tatum, going to SLU as a package deal? Wouldn't that be exciting? As others mentioned, probably no local Fab Five in that we probably will only have two scholarships opened. Even assuming Spring transfers again next year, 3 would be alot and tbe better local kids will not want to wait that long. Still, the rumor probably was based upon our prior history of landing the better local kids in bunches. Also, with kids already friends, it makes sense but just not enough room here. davidnark
I have no idea whether a Fab 5 package is or will be proposed to the local AAU kids. However, I think it is naive to assume that it won't happen because of anticipated scholarship openings. If that is what it will take to get Tatum and the local talent, I suspect it will be offered, and the staff will find a way to make it happen. Some on here won't like it, but that is how top programs have to operate.

slufanskip
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGsZwDkk4Eo&feature=player_detailpage I don't think it's very fair to put RM's recruiting violations at Utah in the same basket as you would what was happening at Mizzou under Quinn or what Haith was being investigated for at Miami. ACE
I don't think it's very fair to put RM's recruiting violations at Utah in the same basket as you would what was happening at Mizzou under Quinn or what Haith was being investigated for at Miami. It's like comparing a speeder with a guy with 6 drunk driving convictions aj has tried to make this moral equivalence argument before... sure RM = Snyder & Haith And we actually have a couple of people defending aj (not surprising who) aj was so angry last summer I had the audacity to call Snyder "Cokehead Quin" that he sent me several PMs telling me all the positives of Quin, while calling out SLU fans for embracing RM. aj also famously suggested the program "blow up the roster" right before SLU went on its most successful three-year run in the modern era. And while SLU was enjoying the fruits of RM's labor, aj was typically nowhere to be found. Not sharing in the good times with his "fellow" Billiken fans. Oh, I know, it's really hard to get Billiken news in Georgia... (even thought taj somehow manages to write essays from his couch in Maryland). We should all be thankful that aj's schedule conveniently began to free up last summer just as SLU was entering a rebuilding period.
