Recruit (1/7)

  1. >Contrary to what you may think, I'm glad to hear that he is >playing Div 1 ball and will make St.Louis proud. I hope he >can earn a scholarship, so he doesnt have to work so hard in >the books in addition to working extra hard as a walk-on on >the court. SLU actually was recruiting him at one time and >invited him along with Liddell and Meyer to the Louisville >game, a game in which we pulled off a huge upset. I'm >guessing that landing Polk took his spot away. What about >Vaughn West and Tommy Williams? Werent they supposed to >join Monroe at Dayton and walk-on? VTime, did I say that I thought otherwise of your posting? Did he really have a spot? I know they were interested, it just didn't work out. SLU made a fine choice in choosing Dwayne. He's a good, hard-working, and bright young man. I've watched a lot of these guys grow up in the gym playing with or alongside Money, and wish all of them the best. Vaughn & Tommy are doing well. All 3 guys are sharing a quad apartment, along with a friend they've welcomed into their circle from Cinncinati, OH. I don't know what Vaughn's & Tommy's plans were for walking on, but Monroe was the only one to actually tryout last year and this year.
  2. Nate - Monroe Jr. will always be "Money" to his family and friends. This is what I said back in July 2003 "As far as giving up a scholarship to play college ball and be a walk-on, that's not going to happen." Money didn't give up a scholarship to play ball, he received an academic scholarship and chose to walk-on. Last year, he tried out and the roster was already full. He worked hard this past summer and tried out again. Also, with the transfer of Trent Meachem and the departure of another walk-on, it opened up an additional opportunity for him to walk-on. Since Nate mentioned it...My daughter, Monai, is a freshmen playing on Berkeley's Varsity squad this year. I'm looking forward to watching high school basketball again and hopefully some college games also. Thanks!
  3. No, I don't know of any place to get the roster or any statistics. But, I think all of the guys went. This is the roster as I remember it: Kalen Grimes Aaron Jackson Monroe Douglass J.B. Jones Tommy House Terry Evans (I'm not sure if Terry went or not) Trevor Stone Cameron Murkey Tyler Hansbrough Xavier Price Tommy Liddell Matt Shaw I don't think I missed anyone, but I truly think all of the guys made this one. There was one site keeping up with the tournament, and that was hoopmasters.com. Money said he's playing good. As long as everyone stays healthy, I think they have a chance to come out on top.
  4. The Eagles 17's have advanced to the Quarter Finals of the AAU National Tournament. Congratulations & Good Luck Eagles! http://www.aauboysbasketball.org/results/2.../jrnbracket.pdf
  5. Sorry, don't know why it's not working. Just giving some proof that I am who I say I am. http://www.geocities.com/mrsgidget
  6. Like I said before, just come up and introduce yourself if you're ever at a Chaminade game. I'm very approachable and so is my husband. You are entitled to your opinion, but please be a little more tasteful about it. Other parents and the players read these boards also. For the young lady that signed on........"WELCOME"!! This may be a new trend of women posting on the boards and getting the boys to play nicely. Thanks for all of the nice welcomes guys!!! :*
  7. I assure you Monroe does not run the show at Paul Cerame. He's a sales consultant, the manager makes all of the final decisions. I don't know what to tell you, but keep at him!
  8. Nate, I always appreciate your support. Anything you have said or written about Money has been positive. Actually, Money has received calls from Wichita State, Evansville, Dayton, Southwest Missouri State, Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, and letters of interest from many others. I try to stay off of these boards, but it is HARD!! The Eagles lost against Sports Academy by 2 points, so they are out of the Super Showcase, and are preparing to play in Nationals tomorrow. Good Luck Eagles!! Matt Shaw was hurt and Kalen did not play.
  9. P Diddy -- Just thank GOD that you're breathing! And, if you had any respect for GOD, that's with a capital "G". Some of these comments are very uncalled for. Billken-Roy, I accept your apology. P-Diddy as for hearing anything on the streets about recruiting, who cares. The coaches call the house, not run from street to street. Any respectable coaches that is! If you ever come to any Chaminade games this year, please do come up and introduce yourself. Yes, this is really Money's mom. My name is Gidget, and that is my real name. http://www.geocities.com/mrsgidget/money04.jpg http://www.geocities.com/mrsgidget/Family2000.jpg
  10. Let me put the hearsay to rest right now. Money is not thinking about walking on at SLU. We have had no discussion of the sort. Yes, he is a smart young man. As far as giving up a scholarship to play college ball and be a walk-on, that's not going to happen. I have always told Money that I did not want him to go to SLU in his dad's shadow, but the college he attends will be his choice. However, Money attending SLU is a dead subject. Mrs. Douglass
