candyman4881
Greetings Billikens Fans. I am surprised to not see a topic posted yet about the game on Saturday. As a SIU fan, I have liked what I have seen so far from the Bills this year, although if Reed is out an extended time, this would be a huge setback for you all. Good luck on Saturday! As a SIU fan, I have liked what I have seen so far from the Bills this year, although if Reed is out an extended time, this would be a huge setback for you all. Good luck on Saturday! I don't think SLU fans get as excited about the Carbondale game as SIU-C fans do. I know I don't. I really hate playing the Salukis (which should be taken as a complement to SIU-C). The game is just plain ugly with SIU-C's hang all over you and maul you defense which leads to a final score that looks like it should be halftime score (not that SLU has much room to brag about a potent offense). I think it will be a challenge for our young guys and I hope we can win. Usually with this series the home team wins, so hopefully that stays true to form. You must not pay much attention to the opponents you face then. This isnt the same Floorburn U that many people expect with SIU. We are a young team with 1 senior (who was All Big Ten 3rd team his sophomore year), and it will be really interesting to see how the Dawgs do on the road. I am really excited for the game! This *is* your NCAA tournament game every year, right? dont flatter yourself. it's a nice regional rivalry game like missouri state or semo, but it isnt dayton or xavier. brianstl
Come on Billiken fans, let's hear from you about this game. This *is* your NCAA tournament game every year, right? Right, this game is big for us. Never mind the fact that salukitalk has four threads about the game already. The fact that you hicks have been planning your big trip to the big city for months on that site. The fact that this thread was started by a SIUC fan. You really are excited about the road trip you always lose. Enjoy the thumping. Enjoy your obsession.
DirtyRican
I dont know anything about SIU this year becuase I really dont care. However, if Willie cant go or is not close to 100% we cant beat many teams. Hopeful for a good game and a rowdy atmosphere. Willie plays and Bills win by 3. kshoe
Is there anything more played out on message boards than the "you care more about the rivalry then we do" trash talk. The theory being that if you care about beating someone or call it a rivalry you must feel you are inferior to them. Whatever. I want to win this game badly for a lot of reasons: 1) Its a home game and we don't often lose at home 2) We have a 3 game losing streak 3) Its SIU, and yes they are a rival of ours for both local fan attention and recruits 4) There will probably be a bunch of SIU fans at the game, as there always are, and nothing is better then seeing them go home unhappy. First, I am one of those "hicks" who lives in the big city, and there are a lot of us that come to the game that live in the St Louis area, so try again. I am always excited to see my Dawgs play, especially with Carbondale being 2+ hours away and Chaifetz being 15 mins away. Also, there are 2 threads on Saluki Talk dedicated to this, and since we havent had a game since lsat Saturday, this game is the next big thing. Sorry some of us are passionate and tried to stir up some convo on your board. You guys must not be as passionate as we are. I do like what Majerus has done for you guys, and Ellis will be huge for the team once he gets here.....its just a shame we wont be able to see him on Saturday. billiken_roy
this game reminds me that i hope we soon add siu-e, siu-c's twin program, to our schedule annually. the two programs are really mirror images and it would be nice to play another area school in our tune up pre conference season. saluki762
If WR plays and is even close to 100% we as Saluki fans will be going home unhappy. If he doesn't play I believe that SIU gets a rare win in STL.

candyman4881
Please dont confuse SIU and SIUE. SIUE has a long way to go to have the tradition and success that SIU has.

SIUE has a long way to go to have the tradition and success that SIU has. come on candy, other than a lesser clientelle of locals in the carbondale area as compared to the high rent of edwardsville, the actual schools, siu-e and siu-c, are identical in every way from sports to classrooms. but i can understand the jealousy on your part with that geography and social difference aspect. has to be tough living in the meth and mobile home capital of the world.
