  1. The headline on the main page says Yuri got 14 turnovers and 0 assists. Terrible game!! ;-)
  2. No AD at SLU has or will ever have the power to take Athletics to a premier level. What is the old saying when comparing SLU to Missouri? Brains versus brawn or something like that. That is simply how it is. No new athletic director will ever change that. SLU is just simply not that kind of school. Slu's .reputation is based on academics not Athletics. Always has been. Multiple teams will have success from time to time just like other mid-major programs.
  3. There are limits to learning and making wise decisions. You can't expect long term for people to be smarter than they actually are. Sad day.
  4. Lets not engage in censorship. People should not be blocked or deleted to satisfy a few. It is not the American way.
  5. So many Crews haters. Jim Crews accolades: Awards 3× MCC Coach of the Year (1987, 1989, 1992) MVC Coach of the Year (1999) 2× Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year (2013, 2014) Sporting News National Coach of the Year (2013) NABC Coach of the Year (2013) I guess nobody was too hard on him in 2013/2014! Funny how our memories work.
  6. In a perfect world. The video of the incident plus the "posting" of pics/videos is the main downfall I am guessing. At least one of the females got pissed off and blew the whistle on the whole episode. As far as sexual assault claims I am not sure what happened. A high profile scholarship athlete has gotta be smarter than that. I am sure Graves or whoever posted it thought it was a good idea at the time... I for one cringed when I heard that actually happened. I guess that was September or October maybe. I was thinking this was going to turn out bad for the players. I hoped I was wrong... sigh.
  7. Seems to be the ongoing debate. SLU is not a "Catholic" school but in the end run by Catholics??!? I think the administration is simply sending a message out to the world. Coordinated and videoed group sex will not take place on campus ? That is the best guess I have.
  8. If you don't know then I am not the one to explain it. Go ask your parents, any older brother, somebody... Actually nevermind...don't trouble yourself...
  9. I tried to explain the same in the same sort of way. It is a shame because innocent people get swept up in the current climate revolving around sexual misconduct. I am sure SLU has legal exposure on its mind, especially from women's rights groups. Not to mention boycotts. Mothers and Fathers want to send their children to schools where this sort of activity is not tolerated and it is reflected in the way this whole situation was managed. The best way to avoid these types of allegations is not to pursue these activities. Hypersensitivity is always dangerous ground in some way or another.
  10. I think the University is telling the Saint Louis community where it's loyalty lies. There are some universities out there where the athletic department holds so much more power than probably SLU's athletic department will ever dream about. I think the punishment was harsh, probably too harsh. Although I was pretty sure whoever shared that video was screwed. Turns out he was expelled.I am not even sure which player that was..I suppose it doesn't matter since we will find out soon enough. Since there are no criminal charges that I am aware of this whole punishment must be based on SLU code of conduct. The administration seems to think it is protecting itself. Lets theorize that the same situation occurred but the accused were not basketball players or any other student-athlete. That they were ordinary students where mom and dad pay the tuition or have loans or even academic scholarships? Would have they received the same punishment. Based on what I know about SLU, I would guess yes they would. At least I hope so. I wish I knew about some similar title ix investigation. If I find out that something like this occurred and the accused were not suspended I would be hopping mad. Unfortunately I know of no such cases. You said there was no ill intent.. I think there must have been on one side or the other else why drag this out? A female complainant who is assumed to have dragged this out seems to have at lease some ill will. It is tough to know these things unless both sides start talking about it publicly. It is frustrating at the least!
  11. Look sharing the video got them suspended. I understand the actual sex was planned in advance and that probably didn't help. The is no way SLU is going to put up with that. Maybe Mizzou I suppose would have been a lighter sentence. SLU's commitment to academics over athletics is pretty clear. That is nothing new. I am bewildered why people do not get that. This ruling is meant to send a message. I hope (don't think it is likely) that an appeal will result in a lesser punishment. I am not holding my breath. I don't think there will be criminal charges and the boys should be thankful for that! But like I said SLU is sending a clear message that activities of this sort will not be tolerated. I know that nobody wants to hear that. The pure basketball fan just wants the guys to play. I wanted the guys to play as well. When I learned about the events in question and that videos were released without consent, I figured this would turn out just the way it did. The videos were released publicly spelled the doom of these players. In conclusion, no video would mean no result that we saw. The only question I had is whether or not the females knew that the video was taking place. The lawyer says it was a small space and could have been hard to miss. However I think alcohol was being consumed so who knows? There are some questions I don't think we will know the answer to and less the people who were there spill it. If there is a lawsuit that stuff may come out. Honestly I don't think a lawsuit has a chance. It'll most likely be thrown out.
  12. You would disagree that the Me Too movement has risen to prominence after the election? SLU knows what is getting high focus in terms of sexual assault cases. They know the basketball fans will be angry. They also know with this decision reduces risk in public perception involving academics, campus security and safety issues, etc.. not to mention lawsuit exposure. I know nobody on this board wants to hear that. I'm sure St Louis University is worried about donations drying up if they would have went the other way. I'm sure they were worried about enrollment, especially with new female students and their families. I know you guys want to wash that away but these are serious issues. Remember, hundreds upon hundreds of student-athletes coming through the program but don't get entangled into this nonsense. Why would anybody think SLU is going to side with the ones who do? Why aren't French, Hines, Roby, to name a few , in trouble? The obvious answer is they had nothing to do with it. If They're as smart as I think they are they probably steered clear of it. I think logic dictates they found out about it pretty quick. I am sure they were kind of ticked off that three of their teammates would not play in a real game, exposing them to more injury risk. There bodies taking an extra pounding because their teammates wanted to experiment with group sex and make foolish choices? . We don't know if they blame the players or if they blame the University. Those teammates not under investigation probably blamed both!! By the way , I predicted this because I have a brain that functions and I am aware of the situation in our society today. I live in this world the way it is . But I didn't make the world that this way. it is doesn't take a genius, it just takes somebody with a little bit of Common Sense. I wish you all the best. Go Billikens!
  13. See you at the next home game. I will continue to support the players not suspended or expelled. They are working hard out there and deserve support. I know this decision hurts. I wanted them back on the team fully. I just didn't expect it will happen. I am pushing 50 and a good many of fans I talked to who are my age predicted the same. Call me names if you want. Sticks and stones..etc... if the young guys want change, go run for your local legislator and make change happen. Before you do that I want you to think about something. This country elected a president in 2016 who has what you call a dubious history when it comes to things of this nature. Do you realize that is what motivated the Me Too movement? I cannot be certain but I feel that perhaps none of this result would have came to be without those two factors. Remember for every action there is an equal reaction. I know you all will think that's silly but I think it actually has Merit. everything that has gone on over the last year has put a microscope on all things related two sexual assault or related unseemly activity. some people just don't want to believe it but I think it's true. I want you to remember that I really do love the SLU Billiken basketball program. I go to Every men's game into as many of the women's game as I can. when my kids ask about what happened I can only say that a group of young people made decisions they probably wish they hadn't. Please don't stop supporting the players who are still in the program. Their commitment deserves respect. As with the situation with Reed and Mitchell, this too shall pass.
  14. I suppose this discussion is for people who believe these guys are completely innocent and this whole situation should have never been investigated. Missouri may be the right school for that but not SLU. The culture at SLU and the code of conduct just will not allow it. This is nothing new. I am still shocked that this outcome surprises anyone who has a functioning brain that lives in the reality of the real world. 100s and 1000s of student athletes come thru programs at SLU and colleges similar to SLU and manage not to get entangled in this sort of situation. The women involved this should face repercussions but I doubt that will happen. Their lives are changed forever and they will never forget, although they may be full of regrets. They will probably, years from now, say " If I could go back in time and talk to my younger self and tell him: DON"T DO IT!! YOU WILL WISH YOU HADN'T!!!! " I am wondering in the back of my mind if this whole episode that went on that night was a setup. All it takes in one "victim" to cry foul, and the SLU title IX investigation and SLU code of conduct will do the rest. Please counsel your young ones coming up to college age to be careful! Have fun, but don't think you are invulnerable and nothing can go wrong, nothing bad will ever happen... And for your own sake don't get involved with group sex...If One person gets angry or feels wronged.....It will blow up in your face!!!!!! I wonder if the guys really knew these girls that well? Did they have complete trust? Did everyone agree to videos and pictures? Apparently not... Live and learn! Oh well, such is life.
