  1. Thanks. I guess I'm still in the camp that I will wait to celebrate until it's officially official. But it's certainly a good sign.
  2. I'm trying to figure out where some of you are getting that Schertz is a done deal. I saw Trilly's smoke tweet, but that really didn't say anything. What did I miss?
  3. BAB - I enjoyed meeting you and Ms BAB at the A-10 tourney. I’m glad I asked if it was you.
  4. The NIL budget for this year’s team is upper 6 figures. A couple months ago, Troy felt next season would be the same. I don’t know if that forecast has changed based on how this season went.
  5. Heard some rumblings this week. I was told by a friend that the newspaper in Minneapolis had an article on possible coaching changes. In the article, they speculated that former Minnesota coach, Richard Pitino was headed to SLU. His teams were very up and down at Minnesota, but he had just 1 year of head coaching experience when they hired him. Looks like he has figured out the transfer portal at New Mexico. Thoughts?
  6. From a BVF board member: the budget for this season was high 6 figures. That is as much detail as he would give.
  7. I believe it's actually a little higher than that.
  8. The NIL rules currently don't allow you to structure incentives into the contract based on quality of play or amount of playing time. But those items definitely factor into their ability to negotiate their NIL contract for the following year.
  9. BVF is structuring their contracts in a way that addresses this, but for a different reason. BVF is structuring a significant portion of our NIL payments to be paid after the portal closes each year. This way you have a reasonable expectation that the player will stick around for the following year.
  10. Fun 2xOT game last night between Long Beach State and UC Davis. UCD won 93-92. Lassina Traore with 22 pts, 20 rebounds on 9 of 17 from the floor in a losing effort.
  11. I agree that neither of us know with absolute certainty. However, your statement suggests he was not putting in the necessary effort before now. I have heard him speak and been around the program enough to know he is a very driven person. Effort is not the issue.
  12. Seriously?!? I am not a Ford apologist. But do you really think he put more effort into this game than any other? And that's why the team played better? I'm not buying it. He certainly may have tried something new in practice this week that helped, but it was not that he put forth more effort.
  13. I think some on this thread are confusing the programs goals with what it takes to be a consider a good coach. Those things are not mutually exclusive. I agree that the goal for the program is to be in the tourney 50% of the time. However, we have to get to that level before it can be the expectation going forward. So how can you say an individual is a bad coach just because he hasn't a achieved a level when none of his predecessors could achieve either? Ford is a good coach. Period. 300+ other D1 programs would take him in a second as their coach with no hesitation. WHEN he achieves the goal above (and I believe he is on track for this going forward), he should be considered a great coach.
