  1. Unfortunately looks like Humphreys won't be open until 5pm today (Saturday) per their Instagram. I was hoping to watch the Maryland game there.
  2. Durando: "Travis Ford confirms that Javonte Perkins will return next season. He indicated as much last week but wanted Javonte to be able to release the information on his own." If Ford knew about this last week, could that mean Nesbitt also knew?
  3. Didn't the idea of a Spoonhour Classic (with MO State, UNLV and Nebraska or Eastern IL-Jay Spoon's team) and a Majerus Classic (with Marquette, Ball St. and Utah) get thrown around here? If those could happen in alternating years, it would be a nice tribute and make the non-con more interesting.
  4. Go Mercer. I love it when Duke goes down early. Almost as much as SPUMAC.
  5. So not just lay, but a former faculty member? Interesting, given the discontent between the SLU faculty and the former president.
  6. BTW Wilbon said SLU is a Final Four threat at the end of yesterday's PTI. He's not ready to say they are a title threat yet.
  7. Need to note that majerus mojo posted a link to this tidbit in the coaches show thread yesterday. Did not intend to duplicate-I didn't see it until just now.
  8. "7. Saint Louis Yes, Saint LouisVCU was a close game, and yes, VCUs late 9-0 run to tie the game probably put a scare in Billikens fans, but it had been obvious to me since before halftime that the Billikens would win. Sure, Saint Louis took awful care of the ball throughout most of the game and Jordair Jett a future inductee to the Khalid El-Amin Hall of Fame for great guards who look completely out of shape took awhile to get going. But I never lost confidence in the Billikens because all game long, it was harder for VCU to score than it was for Saint Louis. Before we go any further, we need to remember that the goal of VCUs Havoc defense is to speed up offenses and force turnovers. The Rams dont mind giving up easy buckets from time to time because thats a necessary risk to take to force so many turnovers. So while its tempting to applaud Saint Louis for shooting 45 percent against one of college basketballs best defenses, we should also acknowledge that the Billikens committed 17 turnovers, which was exactly what VCU wanted to happen. Whats impressive about the Billikens, though, is that even when their offense fizzles, they dont let it affect their defense. They forced VCU to commit 13 turnovers of their own and held the Rams to 38.5 percent shooting (including 2-of-16 from the 3-point line). So many teams even those with great defenses let offensive struggles bleed over to the other end of the court, but Saint Louis seems to play even better D when its offense struggles. Its like all five Billikens players realize after a few missed shots or turnovers that their defensive margin of error is virtually nonexistent, and instead of tensing up from this pressure, they embrace the challenge and lock down their opponents. That brings me to this question: If you had to root for a school thats known for its defense, would you want to cheer for a team like Cincinnati or San Diego State, where one player like Sean Kilpatrick or Xavier Thames carries the offense single-handedly? Or would you want to support a team like Saint Louis, where Jett, Dwayne Evans, Rob Loe, and Mike McCall spread the scoring? Ohio State fans who are missing Deshaun Thomas this season are screaming, The first option! at the top of their lungs right now. But Im not sure which is better. All I know is that as Saint Louis keeps winning and as Tom Crean keeps farting on Indiana fans pillows, the Jim Crews to IU crowd will get louder and louder." http://grantland.com/features/mark-titus-top-12-ncaa-rankings-admitting-a-love-for-duke/
  9. "But they lead the nation in horses punched." Let's at least see some pictures before we insult their girlfriends.
  10. http://businessofcollegesports.com/2013/03/22/if-money-could-buy-a-championship/ SLU obviously well below the big boys at around $3 million, though I'm not sure if that figure would includes Majerus' salary or not. And I'm no Boeheim fan, but if I'm him I want to know where the rest of the money is going.
  11. Man my bracket's shot. Good thing I didn't have $ on it and went total homer this year.
  12. Oh crap, what's that going to do to our RPI? But seriously, I'm rooting for chaos around the brackets. It's more fun, and if the Bills handle their business they're likely better off facing Cinderellas down the road. As magical as SLU's run has been, I don't think of them as a Cinderella. They're a legit good team, and will have to work for everything they get as they have all year.
  13. Wow. @SLUboobs would approve. I was going to get a tournament shirt for myself, but my wife in that shirt is better advertising for the program.

  15. Looks like the Road to ATL shirts are at Rally House: http://www.rallyhouse.com/shop/saint-louis-billikens-slu-billikens-tshirt-mens-blue-march-madness-bound-2013-tshirt-57104 They have a store across from the Galleria. Huge Tigers selection, not a lot for the Bills but decently priced.
