dlarry
Uh oh. Isn't he married? I hope he has enough money left from his playing days to buy his old lady a Kobe Bryant appology diamond. We may not ever get a Mizzou SLU game but maybe this will lead to a 1 on 1 game between Hughes and one of the Mizzou inmates out in the yard. Duff Man
Accused of rape in New York early this morning. http://m.tmz.com/#Article/2014/04/18/report-ex-knicks-star-larry-hughes-questioned-in-rape-investigation TMZ - the sleazeball tabloid publication that misidentifies Hughes as a former "Knicks star" is hardly a reliable source Ex-Knick Larry Hughes questioned and released by NYPD after 22-year-old woman makes rape allegation: sources http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/ex-knick-larry-hughes-released-woman-rape-allegation-sources-article-1.1761230 Former Knick Larry Hughes was briefly questioned Friday at the 1st Precinct stationhouse Friday after a 22-year-old woman accused him of raping her at the Trump SoHo Hotel, sources told the Daily News. Hughes met the woman at the club Greenhouse on Varick St. and they left together around 4 a.m. Friday, sources said. Video shows the two of them walking to the nearby hotel. Sources said he did not appear to be forcing her. After she left the hotel she went to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell with a friend and told doctors she had been raped, sources said. Police went to the hotel to talk to Hughes, 35, who was led away in handcuffs because he didn’t want to go with cops. Hughes was released a short time later and has not been charged. Ex-Knick Larry Hughes released without charge after cops cuffed him in SoHo http://nypost.com/2014/04/18/ex-knick-larry-hughes-busted-at-trump-soho-hotel/ Former Knicks player Larry Hughes was walked out of the Trump SoHo hotel in handcuffs Friday after a night of partying at notorious club Greenhouse, which he partly owns. Hughes, 35, was questioned at the 1st Precinct about an earlier incident at the luxury hotel and was then released without being charged, sources said. I am not certain, but I do not think Larry has any previous indiscretions, and in this new world some crazy women often make unfounded accusations against rich pro athletes for one reason or another. So these days I give the athlete the benefit of the doubt when the initial story breaks unless there is substantial credible proof, or as I said if there are previous incidents involving the man, and a pattern seems to be established. Billikenboy
I do not know Larry either but I would not make any judgment about the man or his character until all the info is out. The press is not here to present the truth anymore. The more juicy they can make it the more people can buy into the narrative to bring him down. We are really good at that in the country. As for me I will wait till all the info is in. Just tired of BS journalism these days!
Taj79
First of all, TMZ is not the press, nor is it journalism. And some might argue the same case with the NY Post (on my link, another link to a porn star story pops up ...I read that one more intently!). Kobe. Hughes. Roethlisberger. Rodman. Shawn Kemp. Colin Kaepernick. Darren Sharper. Jameis Winston. The Minnesota Vikings Love boat. Pac-Man Jones. Julius Erving. Wilt Chamberlain. Ho-hum.

TRN
The fact is that he was brought in for questioning, regardless of who the web site is. Innocent until proven guilty, but beware of jock chasers.
Taj79
Hughes is 35, hanging out in a salacious NY nightclub of which he is part owner, at 4 in the morning and takes a girl to a hotel. Poor judgment abounds --- even if he is a former Billiken. Can't fix stupid. I recall Larry and his wife running a pretty credible duet of human caring when he was in DC with the Wiz. Kind of along the lines of what his little brother went through. It was all very nice and quite philantrophic I thought. Husband and wife and all in brother's memory. Now this. Taj79
Plus, I never really counted Hughes as a former Billiken but that's just me. He had a cup of coffee at this level/stop.

He had a cup of coffee at this level/stop.Our best player of the modern era and now this happens and you don't consider him a Billiken? Okay, whatever you say.But he did play for us and he is a former Billiken.
thetorch
Hughes is a Billiken. He's also a dumbass. He occasionally shows up for games and we give him some facetime for his charities. After this if we stopped helping promote his stuff i wouldn't have a problem with it. He's not a representative of the program so its not a huge deal if he wishes to be an open philanderer. Taj79
@For-DaLove....yep, that's the way I think. And I said it was just me. If he's a former anything, then yes,he's a former Billiken. But hanging out with guys like Jeff Harris, or Donnie Campbell or Dick Missavage or Justin Love or Bob Mueller brings more to the table than if it was Hughes. Anybody know if ol' Larry got a degree? Not that it matters. It might change my thinking slightly but not too much.

I think you need to relax a bit. If Hughes had gone to Mizzou he would be getting crucified on here. I don't see amything wrong with taking some shots at a guy who at the very least made a some stupid choices.

You compare him to Kobe and place him in jail with some Missouri players/inmates, and there have been no charges (to my knowledge) yet. Big difference. Are you a Billiken fan? And you think it is OK to take cheap shots like that? Hey, if it turns our he is in the wrong, OK, but you casually lobbed him into the category of being a criminal way, way, too soon and in an ignorant (not funny) manner: "Uh oh. Isn't he married? Billikenboy
Gents...relax. All of us have some biases that we bring to the table in looking at Hughes. I wish he were a huge contributor to SLU or not depending on your perspective. He may have been but how much do we really know. Did he get his degree from SLU or elsewhere? Who cares...really. He will have his day in court if it ever gets that far. Let's see what happens.

But since it bothered you that much I do sincerely appologize. Regardless of how this turns out, hopefully this gal is just a low class jersey chaser looking for a pay day. I still think Larry should be looking for a appology diamond. Even if no criminal action took place I would bet his wifr is not happy about him bringing 22 year old women to his hotel room at 3 in the morning. He is ready for congress. A natural. Kobe had charges pressed and later mysteriously dropped. But, so you are saying you approve of his post about a fellow Billiken, a quick story with very few details much less facts and no charges yet, ? Yes or no?
