Bills By 40
On the contrary to Backhand, I do not believe the season is over. The season is far but over. Have we forgotten that we were just on a 19 game winning streak? Or that we were the 10th rank team in the nation? We needed a loss before the tournament, because now we can remember that we aren't immortal. That we can lose. That we can't come out in a game thinking it's a cakewalk because anybody can beat anybody on any given night. The fact that so many of you are seemingly giving up is more embarrassing than us losing to Duquesne. It's on to Saturday. 25-3 is nothing to complain about. Grow up, and be a real fan. Quality Is Job 1
Backhand's post is tongue-in-cheek. No one is giving up on the season, but if this loss doesn't hurt you, I don't understand that. And I don't like the notion that the loss is a wake-up call, because there's a strong chance another loss is nipping on this one's heels. Then what? Quality Is Job 1
Season Nearly Over. That's completely true. Only 3 games left. And then the post-season starts.
hsmith19
If there is a silver lining in this at all, it is that there will hopefully be some extra urgency now to pull out a win at VCU. If there was ever any sense that we could somehow afford a loss on Saturday, that needs to be totally gone now.

BigMouthBilliken
5/6 ranked teams lost to unranked opponents tonight.
Bizziken
The silver lining is that we could drop down to a 6 seed, moving us from that top line and giving us an easier road to the Elite
hsmith19
...but a tougher road to the Sweet 16. Not exactly in the mood to look past the first two rounds right now...
Soderball
The problem is not that we lost. The problem is that we lost to Duquesne. The Dukes suck. They Suck. They S.U.C.K. Get that through your head, despite whatever Wiz or others might say, they have fifteen losses and they suck. The Bills will win the A-10 regular season, and will be favored to win the A-10 tourney, too. That's all true. The problem here is that our NCAA tourney berthing, and AP poll rankings, are permanently screwed now. The rest of the games on the schedule have far less importance now. I'm hoping for at minimum 1-2, what we do in Brooklyn isn't that important now (it's the difference between 7th and 4th seed, we saw how much 4th seed helped last year.) I would have rather lost to both UMass and VCU than lose against an awful Duquesne at home. The A-10 season was over two weeks ago. We've been playing for seeding and fame for awhile now. For-DaLove
The silver lining is that we could drop down to a 6 seed, moving us from that top line and giving us an easier road to the Elite 8 Yeah, because having to play a 3 seed in the second round (technically third) is exactly what we want. Not. Dumb rationale
For-DaLove
Not to mention the fact that if we fall to a 5 or 6 seed we will draw a first round match-up with an inconsistent, at-large team like Ok State. And those match-ups scream upset. We need a 4 seed.
billiken class of 15
The last time we lost in the month of February before tonight was to Rhode Island in 2012, a somewhat similar seemingly disastrous loss. We filled that loss with a huge win over Xavier. We have a similar opportunity to get a statement win following a stupid loss. Saturday's game just got that much more important. Let's run Team Gimmick out of their own building

If we get a 5 (which is probably where we're at with the loss) and have to play a 4 in the second round I don't see much difference... SLU_Nick
This loss is frustrating bc Ive always had the feeling that this is the 3rd best team we've had in the last 3 years...we looked like that tonight. The reason Call me out for having a loser attitude, but after enduring the soderberg years, the fact that we are IN the tourney still makes me feel like we are playing with house money. Would I have rather won out and had a 3 seed? Sure. But we won't be sweating on Selection Sunday. Next year i am afraid we could be back to the standard Billiken 18 win seasons. NCSLU
I would have been happy finishing out 3-1 (loss to either VCU or UMASS), but this is ridiculous. This type of loss, in front of 10k+ at home, is not only going to hurt our seed, but also recruiting. Not to mention the fact that we've finally got great crowds coming to the games. Time to step it up, boys....better go 3-0 and try to forget this one.
slufan13
Gigantic difference between 5 seed and 6 seed. "Easier road to the Elite 8" is about the dumbest post I've ever seen. If you want to say there's no difference between a 3 seed and 4 seed then I'll say there's no difference between a 1 seed and 2 seed. So I'd rather play the 12, 4, and 1 than the 11, 3, and 2. The people who take positives out of this loss are more delusional than the people who overreact negatively.

What I'm saying is not that I'm glad we lost, but I'm optimistic about the effects the loss will have on us. We're gonna come out on Saturday as the underdog now... what SLU does best. I think we have more of a chance of winning at VCU now than we did two days ago. The "fans" on this board are ridiculous; overreacting when we do something slightly good, thinking the world's coming to an end when we slip. Calm the down.
