  1. Sounds like just the ticket in the dead of Winter. Who was the brewer? Out here, Stone makes a great one.
  2. Might have to extend my stay! I really apreciate the responces. Could never get these type of tips just browsing.
  3. Thanks for the repies so far. Definitely going to try several of the steakhouses since I'll be in town around 9 days in between the two visits. When I was in town for the sweet 16 a few years back, I drowned my sorrows in a cool little bar that must have been the Venice Cafe (was trying to recall the name as I want a return visit). I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to the spirits in my drinks and they had all the premiums and were very reasonable compaired to here locally. I'm going to try the other bars on the list like 33. Love experiencing a place through unique food and drinks. I'll try my damndest to plow through as many regional micro-brews as I can as well. Without restricting the target area, any soul food joints anyone could recomend? How about Polish/German/homemade sausage cafe's? Really appreciate the responces. This board has given me great info everytime I have ever posted a question.
  4. I'll be in town Dec 22nd for the Loyola Marymount game and possibly again late January for the Butler game. I started following the Billikens a little following Majerus' move there and have developed a rooting intrest for some unknown reason, even though I have no real ties to the team or University and am a die hard UNLV fan. I caught a few games last season in person but will have a little more time this year to take in the City. Anyone able to give any direction on were to find a great steak dinner? Would also love to know if there are any unique (non-chain) bars in the area to visit. Any can't-miss dining or unique eateries would also be appreciated. Thanks and good luck - kill the Lobos!
  5. Thanks for the responses... I am a little surprised to hear of the athleticism, as that wasn't something I saw a lot of when he was in high school. If he has developed some twitchiness to go with his strength and nose for the ball, I can see why you would be optimistic. Great to hear. Can't wait to see your team this year. Best of luck!
  6. I was wondering how Grandy is coming along as a player. When I followed him a little in high school, he seemed to be a real hard worker who just never quite got the height to blow up at his position. Considering his hard nosed work ethic, I thought he might work his way into becoming an impact player down the road. I have no real contact or way to monitor out here on the west coast, so any info would be appreciated. I went to a few camps put on by RM and was briefly recruited by him before I chose football as my college sport. I really have a lot of respect and admiration for RM and have started to follow the Billikens as a result (even though we are fanatic UNLV supporters). We are going to fly out to a couple games this year. Family all love trips to the SL area.
  7. oops. Didn't mean leaving. Meant to say 4-5 years to get his system in and turn a program around.
  8. Thank you both. FWIW (very little), he was a terror when I watched him. He was a bull on the boards and used his strength well on put-backs. A lot of time has passed since then, but I doubt he would lose any of that aggression. How many years has Majerus been your coach? It is usually a four-five year plan with him, but the pay-off is a strong system that can maintain a high level of success for a long time. Does he have a house or is he living the hotel-life again? I'm rooting for him.
  9. Anyone have any info on how Grandy Glaze looks to be progressing? Or if he is? His Soph. year in HS I watched him at a skills camp and was very impressed by his hustle, energy, and toughness. I was disappointed when he seemed to stop growing physically, UNLV (my hometeam) took a LOI from him but he parted ways soon after our coaching change. I was happy to see him go to SLU as I have a rooting intrest in Coach Majerus ( I attended a few of his camps and was recruited briefly by him - made a great impression on me). I also have some ties to the area (watched you play Jacksonville last year and will probably attend a game or two in the future). I see by his stats that he is not playing much, but further info is pretty sparse on the internet. Any Injuries? Problems grasping the system? Also, I haven't seen him in person for more than a year and was wondering if the 6'6" is accurate or if it was still a stretch.
