  1. Interesting. What's the justification, as simple as public v. private schools, or lot's of Jeff City politics? Also, I haven't made it down there yet and am not familiar enough with the exact location of the new building. Do you think that there is opportunity for development/recovery in the immediate area or is this neighborhood already strong?
  2. 100% on the mark. Though I hope he is correct about Q.S., it felt like there was an aluminum siding salesman in my family room when he D.V. started in on this topic.
  3. Actually, this post and the daily MU obsession on this board perfectly demonstrates why there is no SLU-MU series. It's not complicated. Because SLU and MU are not rivals, there is room for folks like myself to root for both schools. I grew up in MQP country rooting for both school - we all did. Like many, I was forced to choose sides when the two played. Now that the teams don't play, emotionally it is very easy to root for both schools, and MU needs a strong fan base in Stl. On the Tigerboard, SLU is never discussed - months go without a single mention of SLU. This is a good thing for Mizzou. At the moment, it is a one-sided debate - just a few immature SLU fans taking part. Prior to the couple of games the teams played, this sentiment was not terribly common, and it will eventually go away if the teams don't play. The bottom line is that it does not benefit MU to have a rivalry with SLU. So, get over it. It's sad when there are only 2-3 threads a day on this board and at least one is about another team, in another conference, that your team doesn't play. Quite strange, really.
  4. Very surprised to see this conversation. I listen to Ramsey every day for 30 minutes or so on the way home from work and have never thought of him as anything less than a Homer equal to Kelly. In saying that, I guess I cannot specifically think of a situation where he was as quick to interrupt/change subjects when fielding a negative call as Kelly so often does, but at the same time, there are very few negative calls about SLU during my drive time. Actually, few calls period. Ramsey almost becomes a different person when talking about SLU/Sod./All-Catholic Conference/Anti-MU, etc., in terms of showing emotion - being a fan first - versus a typical sports host when discussing the Rams, Cards, Blues. In a couple of years of listening 30 minutes a day, I have never heard anything that was not absolutely glowingly favorable about SLU from Ramsey. As with Kelly for MU football, to me this gets a little old - I prefer to hear a little more truth, particularly if all I can do is listen versus see for myself. Can't imagine wanting a guy to be more blindly pro-SLU than Ramsey. I would have guessed Ramsey to be a graduate of a local Catholic high school and a life-long Bills fan simply because that's the way he talks. Is this not accurate?
  5. Fighting on the internet is like... oh well, we all know. I enjoy both programs and don't kid myself into thinking that at either institution athletes don't get a little help getting in the door, let alone the tremendous support they have once they are in school. I've sat in a classroom with Jamal Johnson and Albert White, for example, and neither would have been in college if they couldn't dunk. Both Jamal and Justin Tatum were literally special ed. kids. Don't know what either is doing now, but if either is making something of their opportunity at SLU, then that's great. But don't pretend that either had any chance at getting in SLU without their roundball skills. Same with Monte Large and many others at MU.
