You take the open shot and perhaps get a put back or rebound

As I said, theres no doubt that was an open shot. I just question the fact that THAT was our play after 2 straight timeouts and down by 2. I also question why Gillmann would be the one to take a potential game-winning 3. We can't run something (ANYTHING) for McBroom or Crawford?

Crews said AG was something like the third option in post-game. So it sucks we don't have any plays to free our best two shooters, I guess

MY 2 out of 15! OUCH! This young man has a lot to learn before he is as good as he thinks he is based on his quotes. JM, 20 minutes and 2 rebounds. OUCH! My man MB, 9 minutes, 4 fouls and no shots. OUCH!

This was a winnable game but man, we have to play better, IF WE CAN. Especially at home.

Sometimes you take what the defense gives you.

If Yarbrough had his normal game SLU would have won easily. If there are those of you who think that Roby and Crawford don't have the talent to be more than just role players I believe you are mistaken. If given the playing time they both will be aabove average players. On a team that struggles to score, Crawford should be getting at least as much time as Yacoubou, imo. Also, not counting McBroom and Manning, the rest of the players have less than one and one half years of actual playing time in minutes, not games. That includes Yacoubou.

You realize there were two teams on the floor. You do realize that UMass was trying to stop what we were doing. What do you think Kellogg told his players, don't guard Crawford. They have Crawford and McBroom blanketed. Gillmann was left open. If the coaching staff didn't want him to take an open shot, then he shouldn't have been on the floor. Anything in the paint gets swatted out for UMass block #8. The zebras would have swallowed their whistles and let what ever happened happen.

I'll take that shot. It was an open look for a guy who was 2-2 from 3.

That said I don't agree with what we did with Crawford on that play. He was just posting up Gordon and even if he had beat Gordon, he was gonna have to go into the paint and like HoosierPal said, we weren't going to get a call.

Yes, I realize all of those things...and we ended up with a decent shot.

However...we ran Crawford off of ZERO screens. And we did a good job of emptying the lane by having Gillmann set a high screen, but we didn't even attempt a drive. I thought that's why he was out there...to draw a Big away from the basket so that we could drive. If we were trying to win the game on that possession (hit a 3) I don't see the sense in having McBroom as the ball handler as opposed to Roby, Bartley (who only had 4 fouls), or even Yacoubou.

It's fine that we went for a three. I wouldn't have, but we ended up with a decent look. I just don't think it's too much to ask to run some semblance of a set play in an attempt to tie the game, especially after 2 straight timeouts. To me, it didn't look like we were trying to free up any of our Top options.

If I told you that we were down 2 with the ball and 18 seconds left at Chaifetz, how far down would 'Gillmann for 3' be on the list of plays we should run?
