Things To Look Forward To Until November

I'm expecting a typical billikens.com offseason but with a little more heated discussion and negativity. Still here's what I think we'll see until the season starts.

- Speculation over cryptic tweets. That's what 2015 is all about.

- If we land a recruit who has big schools interested in him, it'll be about how Crews is showing he's the man. Some will bring up Lancona. Others will turn that into a Crews attacking thread. Meanwhile, this recruit will be rumored to being a key guy in our rotation next year.

- Impressive summer reports. Should be a hot summer so stock up on the kool-aid. By the start of August we'll be looking at Roby, Crawford, Ash, Milik, and Bartley as all-league guys. Neufeld and mystery recruit as difference makers. And it will all be thanks to Cheaney.

- Complete overreaction to the Bahamas/wherever trip. The trip is a good thing, but if we go undefeated then look out. NCAA bound? If we lose a game - uh oh. Crews fired before the season starts?

- Tatum speculation. He should be cutting his list in the upcoming months. I'd expect us to be on it whether we're a true "finalist" or not. But we should hear a lot of interviews with him this summer. Also - good chance he commits either right before or right after the season starts.

- Recycled arguments. This has already started.

- Complaining about negativity.

- Complaining about positive thoughts.

- 2010-2011 comparisons.

- Threads about how bad we were this year.

- MB vs hsmith on the statue. (actually I don't look forward to this one)

- Our schedule (well maybe not on this one either)

- And finally, I'll be getting married in October. I should probably look forward to that. She's as big of a fan as me so if anyone wants to send us a Billiken gift, please feel free.

What I'm looking forward to the most is finding out who's having a "Conklin summer." I'm sure by July we'll be hearing about how Jolly and Gillmann are having Conklin summers and how great they're going to be next season. It'll be just like when word came out that Remekun, Manning, and Glaze were having Conklin summers. How'd that work out?

One thing is clear, only Conklin can have a Conklin summer. Would love to see that phrase permanently retired from this board.

Can't just retire the phrase "Conklin Summer", it should live on on Billiken lore if nothing else to confuse the kid posters in 2033. Just because we may not see another, true CS for 5-10-20 years, they should be recognized, and pined for, like an eclipse or rare Game of Thrones happening. Long live the Conklin Summer.

It'll match the current David Burns comments of today

radio this morning was talking Calipari to the NBA rumors. Bet you could cross Kentucky off Tatum's list if this happens. Let the perfect storm begin

-that would be good, then have Coach K retire after Duke losses

-I would think KY is able to match the $$$ any NBA team would throw at a coach, so if he leaves KY my first guess is the NCAA is sniffing around the program

If he doesn't end up going to the NBA, Fred Hoiberg would probably be on Kentucky's short list. Sean Miller would also be logical. I don't think they would go with a mid-major coach because none of them seem to have the profile Cal had when he was leaving Memphis.

From his previous comments, the only college job Stevens would consider (now) is IU.

Money can change everything and Kentucky is one of only a handful of jobs where it wouldn't seem like a step down from the NBA in how the program is operated.

I think Marshall and Shaka while not quite at that level are pretty close. I actually think Shaka would be a perfect fit at UK. The style of basketball sells, his personality would fit, and he has a strong enough resume not to be looked as a reach hire. The resumes of both Marshall and Shaka they both have a Final Four. Marshall has a Sweet 16 in addition. Hoiberg has only a single Sweet 16.

Top 10 recruits would not play HAVOC defense

Archie would have to literally light UD Arena on fire to get canned. May legitimately be the most secure job in the country at the moment.

Yea, bad clarity on my part.

I meant if he decides to leave to greener pastures, not insinuate he would be fired.

I have never brought the statue issue up once on this board. I've merely commented when others bring it up ad nauseam. I much prefer debating A-Bomb on whether it's possible to cheer for a school you're boycotting.

Just so we're clear you're going with the 'he started it' defense? Ok we've come to that
