Recruit

Recruit (1/7)

  1. Not to excuse Marcus smart but this clown "fan" has a past... http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=i0NdJahHN0w&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Di0NdJahHN0w%26feature%3Dyoutu.be Smart will be suspended minimum 3 games and may result in ok state missing the dance.
  2. I looked at Jolly's stats on the dallasnews.com website, nothing really jumped out, he played on a 500 team this year in a mediocre district. He averaged 8 pts and 6 rebs per game. Against the best team they faced this year he had 2 points, granted it was early on in the season.
  3. AJ Riley - 6'3 180, Peoria Notre Dame, next year's class. Offers from UNCG, Creighton and pretty much all of the Valley schools. Link below: http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/160449/aj-riley He is headed to a prep school in NW Indiana, basically a bball factory, he was academincally ineligable for the playoffs according to this article, no mention of the Billikens. http://www.pjstar.com/news/x866119722/Manual-guard-Riley-plans-transfer-to-prep-school As a footnote, does it seem like our recruiting geography has expanded (lots of east and west coast HS kids seem to take notice of that #12 ranking!)
  4. What about the McClane kid from NC? Were we not in on them, or is he for next year?
  5. I believe Crawford went off for 40 points in the state semilfinal loss...got to think a sweet 16 will open some recruiting doors for us. Agreed our starting 5 will be dynamite next year, bench will be suspect, this year we went 9 deep, next year lucky if we have 7/8 contributors (DE, MM, JJ, RL, JB, JM?, GG?, AMB?)
  6. Led off the interview talking about the whole Best Buy watching party, said it was a unique experience but still enjoyable. The Best Buy maanger said the guys were polite and returned the chairs after they were done. Crews mentioned that they will be leaving today around 1 or 2 and he hadn't really studied the bracket much. Talked about Ellis miissing 15 shots but doing other things like charges, defense, passing well etc, and of course about his blue hair. Crews said some lady in the AD dept said he should have dyed it white with the white out game. Crews said winning games in the NCAA let alone a championship is hard, made sure to point out ND (Golic) and IU (Dakich) hadn't won a title in forever, got a rise out of both guys. Didn't realize Crews recruited Dakich. Mandotry Rick talk, said it was very difficult time for everyone. Not much talk about the game, pretty decent interview and to the point, def no Rick Majerus with the national media. After Crews hung up, Dakich made reference to chemistry being a big deal in the lockerroom.
  7. While I expect a victory over NM State (probably in the 8-12 point margin) I am feeling more nervous about Ok State or Oregon (supremely underrated in the bracket) in round 3 than Louisville whom I feel we match up very well with...would be great to extract some revenge on Sparty!
  8. Jerry Palm in his latest bracket has us playing Big South champ Stephen F Austin in the 4/13 matchup. Belmont, Davidon, Drexel and GMU would all be solid additions to the "new A-10". Out of curiousity, wonder how the Wiz would have the c7 shake out with SLU, Creighton, Dayton, Butler and X in the conf? Also, where the Wiz would rank the 4 schools mentioned above in the current A10.
  9. If memory serves me right, was the A10 not flirting with George Mason? I think they would be a viable option. Belmont and Detroit would also be intriguing. How about as a wild card school to consider Oral Roberts?
  10. SMU will be in some sort of recruiting scandal before long with who Larry has as his assistants. If they get local kid Keith Frazier (top 20 national recruit) start replaying the 30 for 30 special on the pony express. I know it was in a separate thread, but I'd vote for/be calling the coach at Lehigh or Wichita State.
  11. I do not know coach Drew like bbtds, but anyone who has been to or driven thru Waco knows it is not an easy place to recruit to, also playing into that is that Baylor is a strong academic university that is ultra conservative. Again, not claiming he is cheating, but given where BU was just a few years ago compared to today, with the talent he has been getting recently and his deep runs into the tourney, would you not assume a bigger name school would come calling and lure him away given his challenges at Baylor? I would not be surprised to see the Texas HC job open up after this year, Rick Barners embodies underachiever and could challenge Cal for worst floor coach with the best talent on the court crown.
  12. Looks like he averaged about 17 pts and 5 boards a game as a junior. His district had a team make it to the 5A final four last year. DFW is loaded with talent the next two classes headlined by Julius Randle, whom some rank ahead of Jabari as the top senior. Coaching staff needs to check in on Steven Speith, 6'7 forward from Dallas Jesuit, offers/interest from Richmond and New Mexico.
  13. Per the Washington Post. Would soon-to-be A10 head coach Shaka Smart bolt for a chance to lead an ACC squad?
