Cowboy
This isn't the most newsworthy item, but looks like Tatum will be cutting his list to 8 or 9 teams in the next week or so. http://zagsblog.com/articles/jayson-tatum-planning-to-cut-list-take-visits/ -remember FBJT

kshoe
He wants to go to midnight madnesses....are we planning one of those? Don't know but it's better that we don't. If he goes to ku and uk and sees 15k people there and then went to SLU and saw a few hundred that would be the end of it.
cheeseman
Interesting. So his dad wants him at SLU, and SLU attended almost all of his summer events, yet SLU still isn't recruiting him hard enough??? He is going to have high interest in any national champion school -who would say no right now - he has plenty of time to before he has to willow down his list. If he is really the #1 ranked kid for his class then all the top programs will have high interest in him and thus that means he will have high interest in them at least for now. JMM28
That was nice of him to keep Duke and KU on his list. It will be good publicity for them to finish in his top 10.

bauman
No surprise really, but Tatum named us in his final 10 What is a little bit surprising, given the Chaminade/Billy Donovan connection, is that he left U of FLA off his list. sludevil
What is a little bit surprising, given the Chaminade/Billy Donovan connection, is that he left U of FLA off his list. Very surprising. They seemed to be losing a lot of ground leading up to Tatum's top 10 announcement, but it's still a bit of a shock to see them knocked out by the likes of UConn (?) and Wake (even with the Giles connection). Though it seems the real race is shaping up between us, Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, and (maybe to a lesser extent) UNC.

It would be a monumental upset for Jayson Tatum to pick SLU over those elite programs, but there is at least a chance of it happening. Does anyone know Justin Tatum's opinion of SLU? I know he was essentially booted from SLU, but I imagine he understands it was well deserved and there likely are not many people around from his time there. I think people tended to oversell the relationship between Donovan and Chaminade. David Lee and Brad Beal both made their decisions on their own with little input from those at Chaminade. If Kelvin Lee had any pull Brad would have ended up at KU from all accounts. I am sure Jayson has a relationship with Beal, but Beal doesn't come across as the type of guy that would get overly involved in someone else's college decision. Justin's biggest point is that SLU and the Penal Colony in Columbia haven't been recruiting the STL metro enough. I don't think he thinks ill of SLU, or we probably aren't even mentioned at this point.

slu72
If we get into the Beast before his commit that will come into play. And why not offer the other two guys he wants to play with. You know everyone else will. Hell, offer JT, Sr a position. If all that came together SLU would be on the map. So far the most promising thing he's said it would be good for the City if he chose the Bills.

So far the most promising thing he's said it would be good for the City if he chose the Bills. If Jayson comes to SLU it won't be part of a package deal. It will be tough enough to get a top recruit born and raised in St. Louis with a father and godfather that played for SLU to play for the Billikens. There is no chance elite recruits like Harry Giles or Dennis Smith or Seventh Woods would consider joining him. If he wants to play with those guys it will be at one of the blue bloods. SLURadioBoy
For what it's worth, FBJT says in this interview with Channel 5 that there's a "great possibility" that he could be going to either SLU or Mizzou. He's mentioned multiple times how it would be great for him and the city if he went to SLU, paving the way for other top players in the area. Here's a quote from a story earlier this summer where he talks about the appeal of playing in front of family and friends... “It’s a pretty big factor because I have a lot of family and close friends who would love to see me play there if I do decide to go to SLU,” Tatum said. “I think it would be great for the city if I were to stay. Younger guys coming up would look to me, and maybe that would help them make the decision to stay home as well.” I'm no recruiting expert, but it really sounds like SLU will be there till the end as long as they keep making him their top priority. slufan13
SLU will be in it until the end, and they have the most unique recruiting pitch of anyone. Tatum says he's going to make his decision before his senior year, so I think this upcoming season is extra important. Not saying we have to be a Tounament team, but we definitely need to show potential and promise I think. Get him on campus as much as possible especially for the big games. Get a good relationship with the current freshmen and sophomores. And keep Cheaney at all costs.
