Recruit (1/7)

  1. Rutgers stole our coach! http://www.foxsportsmidwest.com/pages/land...amp;feedID=3713
  2. Pretty good observations about the 09-10 team to date...hopefully Ellis makes an impact this year! http://www.foxsportsmidwest.com/pages/land...amp;feedID=3713
  3. How does the WR board look? I can imagine he could look pretty tough! Kinda has a KG (Keving Garnett) look to him anyway. I am surprised I haven't seen any KM, has anyone? He was pretty prevelant in the P-D ads earlier and one would assume he would be a centerpiece to any campaigns. Hopefully they get some fans roaring! That could be cool, although they might need to wait to get some live shots for that.
  4. Have you guys seen the new campaign? I have seen stuff with Femi and Paul. Not much else, but there is a billboard of Femi on 55 North just south of the Brewery. It is very sharp looking! I also like the splash page image with Eckerle on slubillikens.com.
  5. Complete list below...I agree Kevin did well, but you can't really argue with the folks above him. Congrats to both Lisch kids! FIRST TEAM Name School Dist. Yr. 6. I would assume they count paid attendance. Which would make sense, since the majority of the missing seats were in the expensive season ticket holder section. All those folks probably just went to bed at their winter homes in Naples. I just wish if they weren't using their tickets they would give them away or let the U re-sell them. Frustrating when I am up high and empty seats are down low.
  7. We might not have the best RPI, but we have a great shot at hosting because of the venue...whether they say it or not...being able to host carries a great deal of weight with those tournaments. I like our chances at getting an NIT bid.
  8. I would hate to see Shimmy go. I think she has done a lot for SLU - both the program and the department. However, why do her kids keep transferring? There have been quite a few over the past 4 years that have left. My thought is that she actually pushes kids and has high expectations! I see nothing wrong with that - but maybe she should recruit tougher girls. I just wonder how good the team this year could have been with Maggie H. She was fun to watch, but I think in her absence Amanda K. has become a big time player. Also, I have heard some rumors that Theresa might not come back next season (she is graduating this year - and is engaged to Illinois' graduating senior Trent Meacham). That would be a shame. She is so fun to watch. Tough as nails too! The team will take giant steps backwards without her next year IMO.
  9. I think that is it, plus I think the cameras (especially for tv games) can obstruct. Do you really think they are sold out? I was going to try to get tickets after I get early, surely they have a few left.
  10. All I was doing was comparing how SLU has gone out of there way to give what they can on a much presumably (sp?) smaller budget than schools like Illinois and Indiana. I agree with the Orange Krush comment with only the students wearing orange...but as a former Illinois season ticket holder, the "Paint the Hall Orange" campaign started when Illinois wasn't good at all in the Big Ten and were hosting a very strong Michigan State team with the likes of Mo Pete, Mateen Cleaves, etc that went on to the Final Four and might have won it all that year. That was the Illini team that consisted of Cory Bradford, Brian Johnson and Sergio McClain - not exactly a Big Ten powerhouse. I think ever since then, the Orange has caught on - even for a football team that has been dreadful most of the past decade. I understand what you were saying and by no means am I trying to question your "fanhood" (ridiculous ESPN comment of the day) but I like what SLU is trying to do. Call me geeky or cheesy, but for not growing up a Bills fan and being a recent transplant who only sees one or two games a year...I like the idea of wearing WHITE or BLUE to make a fun environment. Side note - I missed the PinkZone game...how'd it look? I know they gave out t's...did it look good?
  11. University of Illinois for years has promoted "Wear Orange" for every home game, they never had to giveaway free shirts. True fans should want to create and exciting environment, that is what athletics seems to be trying to accomplish. I don't think SLU needs to give away anything...people should just heed their advice and wear white or blue when they suggest it. God forbid SLU would try something like Indiana did last weekend with alternating white and red sections. They told fans to wear the color that coordinated with their seat sections. Surely we would complain that we weren't getting free t-shirts on that day too.
  12. The Athletics dept. is giving away t-shirts again this year...you want students to come, give away more free stuff. Plenty of kids - hopefully drunk - will be in attendance! PS - Mardi Gras in st. louis sucks unless you have a place to go in Soulard. cell phones don't work, white trash all over the place, and no place to piss. Other than that it's awesome. rather be at the Billikens game!
  13. The MLS has a rule where only certain number of international roster spots are available (not sure exactly how many) and without the flexibility that Reserve squads from years past offer clubs, it would be tough to draft an international player (non-US citizen) unless you know he will contribute immediately. It is unfortunate as I believe that Calum and Kyle are very capable of playing in the MLS. At this point they are almost better off not being drafted so they can shop their services to every team as a free agent and potential injury replacement - as opposed to being one of the final players cut from a spring roster. Good luck to all the guys. I am extremely happy for Dado! He had tough breaks this year with injuries and hopefully he shines in the league.
  14. Any thoughts you might have on whether or not Coach Majerus tried to recruit Anthony Campbell? He is a long, athletic, local kid (Edwardsville) who can play the wing and shoot lights out. Was it more that Cassity was a better fit than Campbell? Just curious, as he seems to be having success as a freshman for Austin Peay (scored 14 at Louisville). His line is below: CAMPBELL, Anthony 14 G, 0 GS, 18.1 MIN, .486 FG%, .487 3pt%, 3.1 Reb, 0.9 Asst, 7.6 Ppg. He just seems like a Majerus guy...
  15. I guess the Athletics Department listens to this board occassionally... http://slubillikens.cstv.com/sports/m-bask.../112508aaa.html
