Listener of the Streets (6/7)

  1. Assistants should keep recruiting, building relationships and possible recruits for their next job. I have little doubt Forte was doing it while he was here - recruiting for his next job.
  2. Larry was not expected, so not a big deal - but Kent was. Is it still hard work being a Billiken fan? The rumor of 3 seems unlikely. Get Cream! If it drags on beyond Thursday, that would be a bad sign.
  3. Hopefully we get a commitment tomorrow and he can go ahead and cancel that visit to Drake. He had 5 double digit rebounding games in his last 9 games.
  4. Tool! I think the fact that we were scheduling recruiting visits with several 4s was a sign. I'm really intrigued by the kid from Wyoming.
  5. I remember being very impressed when we played against Manyawu. Very athletic and active on the boards. He had several double doubles, including against Texas. He doesn’t shoot 3s however.
  6. Yeah, I'm not dismissing him - never seen the kid play and there are some impressive numbers, it's just the turnover thing is something that I'm sure he'd want to clean up. He had as many turnovers as assists.
  7. He had the second most turnovers/game in the country.
  8. Christ!... Essandoko commits to Providence.
  9. Look at the 3pt% improvement of Kent and Conwell this year from the prior year - that offers hope.
  10. If I recall, Tate had a connection - Pryor spent a year at JUCO. He actually would seem like a Schertz player, but probably not a role here if Avila and Kent are on the way. The churning continues! USF actually had a pretty decent season. This was the opening line from a Tampa article about South Florida hoops: In the span of less than a week, the USF men’s basketball program has transitioned from resurgent to rebuilding mode.
  11. LaSalle was not very good to begin with, but wow. It will be interesting to see what kind of team they trot out next year. Davidson, Bonnie and Mason - ouch! Duquesne will be completely starting over.
  12. Thames could be a nice back-up for Kent at the 4. The Canadian freshman could be Avilla's back-up.
  13. Damn it! He's a fun player to watch. If it doesn't happen for us, Gibby would be a hell of a good Plan B. Hopefully Conwell factors in that he thrived under Schertz.
  14. I would expect we would know in a few days, maybe by the end of this week. Typically when a player follows a coach, it seems to happen very quickly. If any of these players are still on the market next week, we can take that as a sign that they are shopping around and not likely to follow Schertz.
