Recruit (1/7)

  1. I think Kramer and Alex have similar skills--although Kramer may be the better outside shooter from what I can tell. I saw a couple of Miami games last season and it seemed to me that Alex was kept on a pretty short leash. He was not expected--maybe not even allowed--to play in the same style he played in HS. Miami needs a good PG or two. If Kramer can go in and prove right away that he is savvy enough to run the complicated Miami offense, he will get plenty of playing time. Miami does not run and gun. I think they average about one fast break every 2.5 games. They will not look to Kramer to be "the man." I predict he will not have an opportunity to hit a game-winning shot until he is a junior or senior. (They have a guy named Michael Bramos who, when healthy, is nearly unstoppable). I think it will be interesting. I wish Kramer the best but fear that he may feel some of the same frustrations that Moosmann felt.
  2. I thought Kramer was also considering Tulsa. Tulsa is losing a pretty good PG to graduation. Is there no longer any interest there?
  3. Not true in the Miami offensive scheme--getting an open shot for the PG is way down the list of options...the same was true for driving the lane...he had a lot of minutes because he had the discipline to play in the style his coach required. If he deviated one bit from his designated role, he would get pulled out. Just my observation.
  4. I think the first part of your statement may be true, but what is your "source" on his possibly looking at SLU?
  5. The coach at Miami seems to have had Alex on a very tight leash. Miami's style of play is very slow and deliberate. I don't think Alex was ever given the kind of "green light" at Miami that he was accustomed to in HS. Anyone who saw him play in HS would tell you that he is a solid player--at least the equal of Paul Eckerle in most aspects of his game. I have no idea what his plans are, and he would obviously have to sit out a year to play at SLU, but his statistics at Miami, in my view, are misleadling.
  6. Brad took a pass on Eckerle too, at least as to a scholarship offer. RM begged to differ.
  7. Speaking of free agents, there is a rumor on the Miami University board that Alex Moosmann has asked for his release. He was runner-up to Ben H. as "Mr. Show-Me Basketball" and he is from the same program that produced Meyer and Eckerle. He'd have to sit out a year, but I wonder if RM would have any interest?
  8. He played at State Fair CC in Sedalia this past season. Not sure if any college is looking at him but he is certainly a talented player.
  9. I am going to see little Alex Moosmann play at Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday...
  10. Thanks. I have to stick up for the boys from WashMo.
  11. Are we forgetting Miami (Ohio)--a team that went to the NCAA last season with former Borgia point guard Alex Moosmann? By the way, sophomore Nathan Scheer is on track to break Luke Meyer's scoring record at Borgia.
