  1. I apologize, I hadn't seen Box's post. I'm not sure if UE would go with just a road game or maybe look for a 2 for 1 and come to St. Louis twice, but I would think any game there could be a benefit as the MVC tournament is held there and any extra chances to feel more comfortable in an arena seems worthwhile. I hope it happens.
  2. >nothing i can think of i'd rather do on a saturday than >drive to evansville indiana. a trip to chicago or memphis >to play the likes of memphis or depaul would be quite a >letdown comparatively. Notice I didn't say anything about you dropping big teams from your schedule, merely that a team like Evansville would probably be better for your schedule than some of the other craps that you play. Do you have reading comprehension problems?
  3. You guys should add a team like Evansville to your schedule. We aren't doing too well lately but we would offer up a better RPI than some of the other patsies on the schedule. A lot of people here would like to see UE start playing some of the teams they used to compete with. A somewhat regional matchup like that also might be more appealing to SLU fans than a team from further away.
  4. Gordon was a dominant high school player. >One of the better bigs to come out of St. Louis in sometime. > He signed with Illinois State and the rest is history. Yes, Gordon is history, as he got kicked out of Illinois St. for academic reasons.
  5. The point was that if you consider the MVC a stepping stone league then the A10 is also.
  6. >Evansville, Indiana St & Northern Iowa all have bad SOS >which is really pulling the rest of the league down. All of >the MVC teams are in the bracketbuster this year also, so >this is a chance to maybe improve the non-conference SOS, >but even so overall it is bad. The fact is that all of those schools SOS will go up once conference play starts because a lot of the teams that they played are going to win their conferences. And no one will play the top MVC teams like Creighton, SIU, and Wichita St. If St. Louis wouldn't do it, what makes you think that any good schools would? The A10 is a better league than the MVC, but not as much better as some of you would like to think. The A10 is a 2-3 bid league and the MVC is a 2 bid league. I don't see a huge difference in that.
  7. I'm not saying SLU should join the MVC, especially if better options are out there. Most MVC fans realize that SLU is going to take the best option they have, and I respect that. I don't really see why there is the need to attempt to bring down another conference (MVC) in the process of doing that. It's gotten to the point over on Valleytalk that one SLU poster has little more to use than trying to say SLU is better because they are a better academic school. SLU was in a better conference, and going to the A10 will still be in a better conference, than the MVC. The problems come from fans saying well SLU is going to the A10 because "the schools in the MVC suck and we are better than them." And I realize that most of the posters here haven't had that attitude towards it and respect the MVC. But there are many who don't, and of course they are the ones that end up accidentally skipping over this thread.
  8. People here claimed that the MVC was obsessed with SLU since some fans posted here. Yet when many here asked that we stop posting, we mostly did. However, why is it that the MVC board is now being filled with garbage from SLU fans about how superior SLU is to the Valley? If you want to post on our board, go ahead. Nobody there has demanded that you leave or stop posting. But if thats how it is going to be, why all the hostility when people post over here?
  9. Most MVC fans don't care about CUSA. I for one do, but I know that there are several SLU posters on the MVC board, and it seems to me that you are implying that SLU fans don't care about the MVC because they are above that. Correct me if I am wrong.
  10. If anything I think that the teams leaving the Big East will encourage ND to stay independent. There is a good chance that the Big East will lose its BCS bid, opening up another at-large spot. Also there is talk of making the Cotton Bowl part of the BCS, which would then allow 10 teams to be in it, only 5 automatic berths. Even if that doesn't happen, I think ND will stay independent for the simple reason of they get as much money as any other school in the nation from their current tv deal and schedule, have a good shot at a bowl game because of their national appeal, and also don't have to share any of their profits. If they join a conference like the Big East, some of their profits will have to go to the lower teams of the conference that actually bring Notre Dame down. I think the Big East is done. CUSA should add teams like Syracuse and Pittsburgh will the option is open and maybe let some of their western schools go to the WAC. Unfortunately it looks like CUSA is going to sit around and wait for the Big East to decide what to do instead of making the first move themselves.
  11. If the Big 10 takes Syracuse or Pitt and CUSA goes on the offensive, do you consider dropping one of the lower programs to make room for another team like Pitt or Syracuse (whichever one the Big 10 wouldn't take) or would CUSA try to keep all current teams as well?
  12. The point is that I personally wouldn't mind SLU in the MVC, or go to the A10 if thats better. The A10 is a better basketball conference than the MVC, although overall I think its a lot closer. Someone mentioned that the MVC is a mostly public conference, which is really isn't. There are several private institutions. If SLU goes to the A10, then I really do hope it works out for you guys. But when you take on this superiority thing of how you are just way too good for the MVC, I think you're a bit biased. Also, to the person who whined about the ISU fan saying that they don't care that much about SLU, just how they affect ISU, that point has to be clarified since otherwise you would take it as a huge obsession with SLU. Give me a break.
  13. I'm here because right now SLU could possibly affect the MVC. If you don't want any non SLU fans here, no problem. I could always take my non-biased opinion elsewhere.
  14. I agree, SLU has been competitive. But what somewhat bothers me is the people who believe that if SLU were forced into the MVC they would easily be a top team every year. Now that the Big East is scrambling after BC left, where does SLU go if the BE takes Xavier and/or Dayton?
  15. You avoid the fact that SMS has dominated SLU in the last 15 years. Don't tell me CUSA is better than the MVC, I already know that. Don't tell me the A10 is better than the MVC, I already know that. All I want to know is what SLU has done that is so great that they should be in a top conference like you guys say? So far, all I've gotten is get the hell out of here and why are you here stuff? Do you guys have any type of facts to hold up your opinions?
