TheGoat
Over on tigerboard they are comparing Larry to Jonnie parker, with some even stating that Parker was better. Man. What delusional people.
Pfunk
One KU poster saying something that a few MU fans felt way back when Parker and Hughes were in HS. If you notice, no MU fans even responded to the post to argue the point. Some may have felt Parker was as good coming out of HS, but to say that it is still being argued by MU fans is incorrect
TheGoat
good catch...i just skimmed around, but after a closer look, are all the drug dealer comments really needed? C'mon, those grapes still sour after all this time?
Pfunk
No the drug talk was very pointless, we've just had a tough go of it lately (I know it was largely our fault too) so we tend to go off on pointless topics.
marcus aurelius
... that Parker was as highly regarded, if not more so, until their senior years in HS... Is this not the case?
slufanskip
I don't know if Parker was rated higher than Larry ... but he was highly regarded, though no where near Larry after their Sr. season. kshoe
Hughes was generally ranked 20-30th and Parker was in the 70-80 range. People in St. Louis thought a lot of Johnnie because Tate Decker and him had just won a state title at Webster Groves, defeating CBC along the way. Hughes seperated himself during summer AAU ball and obviously when he won the state title. However, before the MCD All-American game Larry was still considered nationally as one of the relative no names and I still have the tape of that game and one of the announcers asking "who is this Larry Hughes guy". He was probably considered a top 15 player going into that game but was top 5 after. Any talk that the Billikens "knew" he was a one and done when they signed him is ludicrous. At the time he was ranked about 25th and everyone believed he stay for at least two years, probably longer.
SShoe
I don't even think we were under the impression he'd leave early at all. We all knew he'd be good, just not that good.
