Early Season 2017-18 Tournaments

Recommended Posts

News.  Fake news.  Facts.  Alternative facts.  05's post about us in a Vegas tournament spurred me to see what I can find.  Here's what's out there now:

Puerto Rico Tip-Off:  no A10 participant..  Boise State, Florida State, Illinois State, Iowa State, South Carolina, Tulsa, UTEP and Western Michigan.  Nov. 16 - 19.

Charleston Classic:  DAYTON.  Includes Auburn, Clemson, Hofstra, Indiana State, Ohio, Old Dominion and Temple.  Nov. 16 - 19.

Wounded Warrior:  SAINT LOUIS.  Includes Providence, Virginia Tech and Washington.  Sub-tournament/Campus site teams: Belmont, Detroit, Houston Baptist and Seattle .  Nov. 16 & 17 at Madison Square Garden.

Paradise Jam:  no A10 participant.  Includes Mercer, Liberty, Drexel, Houston, Quinnipiac, Colorado, Drake and Wake Forest.  Nov. 17 - 20.

Hall of Fame:  LA SALLE.  Boston College, Northwestern and Texas Tech.  Nov. 18 - 19.

Gulf Coast Classic/Vancouver Showcase/Lone Star Classic/ Savannah Invitational/Global Sports:  All teams TBD.

Maui Invitational: VCU.  Includes Cal, Chaminade, LSU, Marquette, Michigan, Notre Dame and Wichita State (YOWZAH!).  Nov. 20 - 22.

Cayman Islands:  RICHMOND.  Includes Buffalo, Cincinnati, Iowa, Louisiana, SD State, UAB and Wyoming.  Nov. 20 - 22.

Legends:  no A10 participant.  Oklahoma State, Penn State, Pitt and Texas A&M.  Nov. 20 - 21.

MGM Grand:  no A10 participant.  Includes Ole Miss, Rice, UNLV and Utah.  Nov. 20 - 22.

Hall of Fame : no A10 participant.  Includes Baylor, Creighton, UCLA and Wisconsin.  Nov. 20 - 21.

Cancun Challenge:  GEORGE MASON.  Includes Evansville, Fresno State and LA Tech.  Nov. 21 - 22.

Battle 4 Atlantis;  no A10 participants.  Arizona, North Carolina State, Northern Iowa, Purdue, SMU, Tennessee, Villanova, Western Kentucky (Another YOWZAH!).  Nov. 22 - 24.

Great Alaska Shootout:  no A10 participation.  Cal Poly, Cal State Bakersfield, Central Michigan, College of Charleston, Idaho, Sam Houston State and Santa Clara.  Nov. 22 - 25.

Advocare Invitational:  no A10 participant.  Long Beach State, Marist, Mizzou, Nebraska, Oregon State, St. John's, Central Florida, and West Virginia.  Nov. 22 - 26.

NIT Tip-Off:  RHODE ISLAND.  Vanderbilt, Virgnia and Seton Hall.  Nov. 23 - 24.

Phil Knight Invitational:  no A10 participants.  Arkansas, Butler, UConn, Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Portland, Portland State, Stanford and Texas.  Nov. 23 - 26.

Wooden Legacy:  SAINT JOSEPH'S.  Includes Cal State Fullerton, DePaul, Georgia, Harvard, Saint Mary's, San Diego State and Washignton State.  Nov. 23 - 26.  Opengin round games at Cal State Fullerton with title game at the Pond in Anaheim.

Continental Tire Invitational: GEORGE WASHINGTON. Arizona State, Kansas State and Xavier.  Nov. 23 - 24.

Emerald Coast Classic:  SAINT BONAVENTURE.  Maryland, New Mexico and TCU.  Nov. 24 - 25.

Barclays:  UMASS.  Alabama, BYU and 1 TBD.  Nov. 24 - 25.

Hawaiian Airlines Classic:  DAVIDSON.  Akron, Hawaii, Miami of Florida, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico State, Princeton and USC.  Dec. 22 - 25.

Continental Tire Classic Las Vegas:  Nevada with three teams TBD.  Dec. 22 - 23.

The only A10 teams not in an exempt tournament are Duquesne and Fordham.  I'll leave it to the board to debate if the Nevada/USF news is real or fake.  There are two Continental events, both in Vegas, both on relatively same numerical dates of 22/23/24.  As a true MBM, I thin 50/50 is the answer as to whether we believe 05's "fake news" alert or the USF Associate AD email letter to ticket holders.  Any by the way ---  speaking of fake, is that Phil Knight Invitational real??????  Because that's an unbelievable lineup.

So A10 playing some decent teams in these tourneys.  SLU should get into a sweet one for 18-19 Season.  I'll try to make it.  Anyone want to tentatively agree to split a Room at the Knight's Inn Maui or Cayman or Vegas with me now?

We're not staying in SA.  Moy Toy and I both have bunk beds at our places in Austin we will then take the party bus down south for the games.

What did you read?

It isn't from reading. I can't disclose specifics unfortunately, and I can see how it would seem shady. Granted, this is based upon pre-Ford days and consensus could change considering he had a good enough relationship with the chairman to get OSU there last year before being fired. Edit: Forgot to include that perception of fanbase to travel factors heavily into this as well.

I already counted on GD13 cause his mom is bringing him.

05 you're stopping at Winstar Durant OK on the way so no reason to waste time at Ameristar.

Final Four going to be awesome.

Choctaw Casino Resort is in Durant; Winstar is in Thackerville.  Get it right, @TheA_Bomb.

@billikenfan05, we'll just get kicked out again.  Or not allowed to enter.  I can't really remember, I was too drunk.

GD13's mom is staying at my place.  We'll be having our own Final Four of sorts.
