If anyone would like to do some tailgating, let me know. I could bring this guy along from the office.

No Knights Inn in Peoria guys, sorry to those thinking about recreating a Columbus weekend.

I can definitely point you in the direction of scummy aids infested motels, however.

I just got scabies on my elbow by slipping in my bike shoes taking a piss down by this mid-major shantytown just north of Denver a few weeks back.  My wife was like "gross, where could you have gotten it from???"  I just told her I "slipped and fell in a puddle of AIDS."  Like ya do.

My thoughts immediately went to the Ramada across from Northwoods Mall. I'm sure there are bodies under those beds.

Here is the Bradley release about the TBT with a breakdown of all the teams. Games are July 15-16 in Peoria. Its a 2 hour drive straight up 55 and 155.

Of note besides watching the Majerus team play again:

There is a Marquette alumni squad so there is plenty of opportunity for ample talk. Also, Travis Diener is a coach for that team.

Ohio State has an alumni team that features Greg Oden as an actual player. Scoonie Penn is the GM of that team.

KState has an alumni team headlined by Jacob Pullen.

Bradley's alumni team has former NBA lottery pick Patrick OBryant along with a good chunk of their 2006 Sweet 16 team. They went to the final 4 of TBT last year.

You can buy a weekend pass for $30 and come and go as you please. It is at the Renaissance Coliseum on Bradley's campus, so you could park and walk/Uber back and forth between some nifty bar and restaurant areas between games of interest. Renaissance is a newer facility, not a bad seat in the house type of place. It is the Bradley women's basketball home court along with volleyball. VIP tickets will have beer available to them.

There is a comedy club, Jukebox, right down the street from the BU campus which should feature some sort of well known comic that weekend. There are several strip clubs in the area as well, if that is more your speed, pervert.

If anyone has any questions on where to stay or what to do, seriously message me or whatever. I am planning on going to at least one game and hopefully both.

Just saw that Bronson is now an assistant coach at UT-Chattanooga

Well if Platt can keep getting hired then why not Bronson.  I will never forget the time out just before half when Crews called time out when we had the ball.  The team huddled with Bronson and he drew up some play.  When the team came back on the court, it looked like the kind of play kids drew up in the backyard playing football.  It worked as well - the ball was stolen and the other team scored making the half time score worse than it would have been - what a joke.  I have no use for any of the Crew's crew.

To be fair, Tanner Bronson was hired by Rick Majerus.  As for the lack of success of strategy, look at what he had to work with.  Maybe he'll turn out okay, in the long run.

Fair enough but did RM hire him as a coach or a DOB?

Initially Bronson was a DBO, but he was later promoted to an assistant coach, and I think that came while Majerus was still the head coach.  Either way, both Director of Basketball Operations and Graduate Assistant are entry-level positions for those looking to become a coach.

Danny Brown was DBO before becoming an assistant coach.  It's unfortunate for him, Bronson, and (to a lesser extent, I guess) Calbert Cheaney to have been under the Jims Crews and Platt.

Are you suggesting that RM did not listen to Crews?  If this was true then how did he get the Interim job?

Rick Majerus was a very sick man, indeed dying, when Crews was named interim coach. Very sick people cannot be assumed to maintain full control of their mental faculties. Who really knows why Crews was chosen?

Crews hired a full season before RM took is leave - I would be very surprised that he did not listen to Crews.  Doesn't mean he took his advice.

Joe, I've also put in a block of tickets request to Louie Kouri at the Bradley Athletics ticket office. Louie is a SLU alum and I believe his brother worked as a manager on the b-ball team for a few seasons. Maybe we could get a group discount once we know how many people are coming.

EDIT: Louie wrote back the following:

Unfortunately, we don't sell the tickets before hand except day of the event. I can point you towards a couple of options:
1) visit www.freshtix.com/events/tbt-midwest-1 and use the BRADLEY20 promo code for 20% discount.
2) email [email protected] for group rates. I'm sure they would provide you with any group information.

Potential SLU alumni vs Marquette alumni matchup in round 2 would be fun.  Glad Travis Diener is only a coach so he can't make some devastating game winning shot against us.

I am probably the only one happy with the 9:15pm start.  I have a family event that day that I can't miss, but I can make it to Peoria by 9!

Great time if you plan on spending the night at the world famous Par-A-Dice casino. There's also a Chiefs game at 6:30
