SLU Final Report Card

Overall..........D

Offense

PPG..............F-...4th worst in the nation........beating out UCSB (F+ )..Western Carolina ( F ) and Presbyterian  ( F- ..2nd worst in the nation) grades listed for the preceding 3  teams are overall grades. They are all F- at PPG and worse than SLU

Slash.............F / D+ / D-

Tot Reb..........C-

Defense

PPG................B

Slash..............C/ D+

Opp Tot Reb......C-

Opp TO............F+

Trending up....Tot Reb...Def PPG...Def FG%

Trending down....3 pt %

So based on our finish of D...our upside potential for next year is a B...or about the same as Dav or St. B this year.

Very weak offense....Defense passable

We finish better than 2 years ago (D- ) and worse than last year  ( D+ )

Tick...tick...tick......and we are done

We have bottomed....it is all uphill from here.

Thank you Wiz, despite the fact that the final report card reflects primarily the overall stats for the year, we did not end at the bottom and trending down. Now, the best thing to do about this season is to move forward and look at what the future holds for us.

This will be an exciting offseason with lots of anticipation for the coming season it will be a lot more fun to be a Billikens fan.

I look forward to seeing how the recruiting goes, will there be additional scholarships to fill and if so who accepts them?

It will be fun discussing who starts who sits on the bench now because it is real the transfers will play this coming season.

I look forward reading what The Wiz thinks in November how the team will do.

Wiz, we all knew this team was a work in progress. Also the team is a lot different then what we saw on Nov 11th as compared to a team we saw March 9th.

You don't have to do major analysis but what would we rate for just league play?

Well the easy analysis...where the change happened....Jan 25 (UMass) to the end ...we played at a B- level. But if we just do the A-10....removing NCAT from the middle of league play... we come in at C-...Low point in the season was right before the UMass game when we bottomed at F+......C- also correlates with the final loss to Duq ...a C- team in what turned out to be an even game.

But we didn't lose to Duq.

Sorry I corrected that last line.........it should read....with the final win over Duq

The meaning is still the same...we played a team at the end of the season( Duq)   that correlated to our conf only schedule grade of C- and we played them even.....The B- trending line was valid but the league grade of C- takes precedence because it is a larger sample size.than the 14 game trending model.

So you are saying, if we manage to go undefeated, with wins against Dayton, VCU, whoever else is good in the A10, 2 wins in the November tourney, and against whoever else we play, our maximum we earn is a B???

Do not get blindsided by statistics. According to the stats we are a D level team (full year stats), however looking at the trending line (final x number of games we played) we were playing at B- level, and looking at the total results for conference play we were playing at C- level. This may all make perfect sense from a statistical point of view but for most people it is gobbledygook. So to answer your question straight, the maximum level we can earn next year will depend (as it always does) upon the data chosen to establish the level of play. If we take the complete season, or the conference play only, or only parts of either or both portions of the season, the results may be different. Clear as mud is it not?

OG...you got the first part right with the 3 grades.....but next year's max is based on this year's full season ....D..... which makes next year's max B
