Willie Reed - Impressive Heat Debut

Recommended Posts

Willie made his debut with the Miami Heat last night.  He had a great showing in relief of Whiteside.

17 minutes - 5-6 FG (10 pts), 6 reb (3 off), 1 ast, 1 blk, 0 TO, +7 +/-, and only 1 PF (which has plagued him in the NBA/NBDL)

Good for Willie.  Hope he can have a solid season.  Any extra positive attention for SLU (no matter how minor); is a good thing.

Pulling for Willie.  As noted in the other thread its awesome to see him rep SLU still.  A lot if not most people would have turned their back on a program given what happened.

He was a part of the situation. He didn't come back because he didn't want to give the university and apology.

I thought Willie did come back, but he just wasn't allowed to play / practice with the team until he got his academics in order.  He couldn't do that so he dropped out and entered the NBA draft.

He was back in school and then stopped going to classes.

"Willie Reed stopped attending classes a few weeks ago," the university said in a statement, "returned his textbooks and voluntarily moved out of his residence hall the last week of March.  Because Willie failed to meet the terms of his reinstatement as a student at St. Louis University, he was administratively withdrawn from his classes on April 5, 2011 and is no longer enrolled."

Yeah, and he also sat in the student section for all the games during that last partial semester.

05's rumor that Willie is no longer allowed on campus could only be true if he was banned and allowed back under the condition that he get his academics in order.  Since he did not do that, technically, the ban is still in place.  This seems kind of silly.  I doubt SLU would actually enforce this even if it is technically still in place.  Either way it would be nice if Ford reached out to our only NBA player, congratulated him on a nice start to his season, and welcomed him to a future game.

Well, a certain mega-donor who caused The Situation to get out of control in the first place and then coerced the U. to suspend many of its own stated disciplinary procedures is still, you know, a mega-donor.

OK take Willie Reed's bannig from SLU. You can find out the official explanation for the banning, in this case flunking out, but you may never find out the real reason he was banned. When the official reason given if fishy or full of holes, there is always a lot of stuff that is not publicized.

Grandy drafted in the 3rd round of the NDBL draft. Rosie Jones also taken in the draft.

Whatever team chose him, I am sure their ticket sales are going thru the roof!!  What team doesn't need a low skill guy with a shooting range of 4 feet?  Then, again, team parties' will definitely be "spiced" up.  Sure he will love the state of Nevada.
