slu72
Bourbon is loaded w/ sugar but there's just no way Travis can sugar coat the upcoming season. We all want for him to succeed, but this season may be very painful to watch. Not his fault as we all know only too well. Just remember we had a painful season under Rick as well and keep the faith. Rick's year was not created by him and I guess you could say the same for Ford but to just say that it will be bad so it doesn't matter what happens is not right either. I do not expect to have a good year but I do expect to see players improve and the players play as a team.
Old guy
About Bourbon and sugar, if you explore a little you will find a lot of excellent bourbon with not much sugar in it. Examples: Buffalo Trace, Bullit, Eagle Rare. Compared to Scotch, they sell at bargain prices. A bit of experimentation in bourbons may prove very rewarding. Old guy
No, they advertise as bourbon and use no substitutes. They are not sweet, period. Eagle Rare is full bodied like single malt scotch, Buffalo Trace is light and has a hint of peat, Bullit is pretty strong like full casked versions of single malt scotch. Eagle Rare is hard to get anywhere, but Buffalo Trace is available at Sam's and is not expensive (around $19). Bullit is not as available as Buffalo Trace but not extremely hard to get like Eagle Rare. Both Bullit and Eagle Rare sell in the high $20s, low $30s. Check it out. Compare these prices to those of single malt scotch with 18 year Macallan going over $200 a bottle. Laphroaigh 10 goes for around $50 but a lot of people do not like its heavy peat flavor. Haven't had the Eagle Rare, but have had Buffalo Trace and Bulleit. Liked the Buffalo Trace and have considered buying it due to the low price before. Didn't like the Bulleit that I tried. Could have been different kind of it, or maybe it was the lack of sugar. Just wasn't the taste I expected from bourbon. My personal favorite is Woodford Reserve. Old guy
DeSmetBilliken, there are all kinds of bourbon out there. Some are very expensive or hard to get, or have extremely high alcohol levels (Johnny Drum is 101 proof) and the flavors can be quite different. There is some degree of sweetness on many of them. If you do not like Bulleit you would probably not like cask strength single malt scotch either. This is fine, it is a matter of personal taste. Woodford reserve is very good. slu72
Well, the above discussion re bourbon proves it's gonna be a long off season, so you might as well try all the above beverages in preparation for amother long season. Agree, Cheese player development and some semblance of team play would be a welcome change from the chaos we've witnessed the last two seasons. Good idea, it is time to try and then stock for the long season.
