Assuming majerus isn't coming back...... I'D RATHER TALK ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF MAJERUS COMING BACK THAN LISTEN TO PEOPLE SUGGEST COACHES WHICH SLU HAS NO CHANCE OF GETTING... But i guess my top "dream" choices would be Stevens or Smart...FYI we have no chance of getting either

A couple of ideas.

Up and comming assistant coaches

Matthew Graves - Bulter Associate Head Coach

Dwayne Stephens - Michigan State Assistant Coach

http://www.msuspartans.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/stephens_dwayne00.html

Matt Zimmerman - Arkansas Assistant Coach

Tim Fuller - Missouri Associate Head Coach (MU fans would not like losing him)

Russell Springmann

Lower level head coaches

Kim Anderson - UCM Head Coach

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Anderson_%28basketball%29

Blaine Taylor - Old Dominion Head Coach (Not really lower level but with the CAA losing VCU mabye he is ready for a new job. Long shot but if that annual salary is right we could triple it)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaine_Taylor

Former head coaches

Jeff Capel - Former Oklahoma and VCU head coach, now a Duke assistant

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Capel

John Pelphrey - Former Arkansas and South Alabma head coach, now a Florida assistant

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Pelphrey

Todd Lickliter - Former Iowa and Butler head coach, now a HC at Marain

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_Lickliter

I'm sure there are many more options out there

Majerus was a fluke of luck. Jesuit school, reasonably close to his mom, he did not want to be in Big 6 conferences, somehow alumni found a way to pay him the going rate for a man in his sunset job. He wanted to teach. He loved it despite serious medical conditions. Everything came together and made it work.

He rebuilt the team with good 2* and 3* players, he drilled them relentlessly on his complex requirements and perfect execution. The boys did well.

If if was not for our outrageous self imposed suspensions we would have had a great 3 yr run... and with this yr, even without him, we should still do well, so it would have been four yrs of excellence.

I hope we DO get somebody, but have absolutely no expectations that we will get a new head coach that we all are thrilled about. (Stevens or Smart...... hilarious. As Rodney said, "Fantasyland". Steven will go to Duke or NC, the first one to retire).

Again, Majerus was a fluke of very very good luck. Timing, etc.

Kevin Ollie is who Calhoun wants as his replacement. He is being groomed by Calhoun to be the next UConn head coach. The AD wants a full search. Ollie would seriously consider the job if offered and would be a big time recruiter. Several 4 and 5 star recruits are hedging on UConn right now waiting to see if Ollie will be named the coach in waiting.

I think this would be a good fit for KO.

Alex Jensen or Chris Harriman. Both know RM's methods and system. Both familiar with returning players. Both pretty decent recruiters. Both know the A-10. Both would come at a reasonable amount. Yeah, CH makes a lot at Nebraska, but the SLU gig would surely double what he's making. Hey, we paid Sodie $400k back in the day. My guess, however, is if RM's for sure not gonna give it one more try, which would seem doubtful/stupid given his age and weak heart, and Crews does deliver success, a dance invite, he'll be given the job, unless Dr. C steps in and nixes it.

SLU needs to clearly say what will happen with the coaching position. This is a big recruiting year and next year is even bigger. Three open scholarships this year and five next year. We could be back to what were with the wrong choices very quickly.

What was the date Harriman left? I fully believe this health issue has been known for a while (months). It appears that Utah fan was accurate. Did Harriman know about RM's health issues and somehow he knew Crews would get the interim gig? If so, did that prompt him to leave or was it just the money. I got to think Harriman knew all about RM's health. He also had to think he may be the guy to be the interim Coach. But, he chose to go to Nebraska? Wouldn't the interim head Coach at SLU be better than the assistant position at Nebraska? Doesn't seem to add up.
