Cowboy
Ive never really understood the parking situation across from fieldhouse. Is that lot open to anyone? Just looked at it on Google Earth or whatever it's called. It has SLU branded entrance arms and I guess card readers (from Olive) and has a sign that says "Workforce Center Parking", so I guess that's employee parking? Another sign at the entrance says "Preferred Permits Only". The exit (onto Theresa) has no barricades but there's a sign I can't read on Google. -a couple of seasons ago I was able to park in that lot when going to the Fieldhouse before weekend games but last season the entrance had the arms so parked on the street, I guess during the week it was a problem -I typically like the food from the Fieldhouse, fwiw

Deutschkind
Few months ago SLU asked the city if they could close Laclede from Spring to Grand and there was a lot of speculating on what they were planning. Got an email yesterday that the street will be close except for moving out of Gries next week. No big change, just a temporary closure
brianstl
Sounds like Microsoft is going to be moving moving some jobs into Cortex. https://nextstl.com/2016/05/165m-mixed-use-project-200-microsoft-jobs-may-next-cortex/
Dwayne's_World
Now that there will be massive investment and development in the northern sector of the city beginning in September 2017, I wonder if any of the corporations that fled to the counties will eventually follow suit..... https://nextstl.com/2016/06/final-decision-makes-north-st-louis-future-site-1-75b-nga/

TheChosenOne
I have a feeling that will take awhile for the companies that left the city. While it is great to see some of the development in the city, I doubt it has changed enough for companies that have moved to the county to truly consider moving back. The goal there should be to attract smaller businesses on their way up. Try to become the destination from some of the startups in the region. Cortex and the CWE are the real bright spots for the city right now. In the near future Grand Center/SLU and downtown will benefit from their proximity to Cortex/CWE, and not the other way around, IMO.

The city needs to kill the purposed Fox parking Garage as presently designed.

JMM28
Maybe I am just letting nostalgia get in the way, but I don't understand the point of a "new" Humphreys being located there. Most of the charm of Humphreys is the old crappy building and beer stained floors. Will some stripmall "Humphreys" provide that? Will people go there just because its close to The Village? Or will it fail like the new and improved Laceledes/whatever?

I'd also like to see something new open in the old Laclede's space, but that's another story. In Columbia, Shakespeare's Pizza was demolished to make way for a new apartment building. Shakepeare's is being reconstructed - brick by brick - in the new building so that it won't look any different than it originally did. Seems like a good solution. What would a new Humphrey's be? Just another version of the Library Annex or Field House?

Love to see them get preserved (even if one of the uses is: "Purchased by Kink.com in 2006, it is now used as the film studio and office for the producer of BDSM pornography." ). The SLU baseball team has used the Armory on and off for decades for practices. Based on the developer, this is promising.

It would've been a great way to connect the Armory to Lawrence Group's planned development, not to mention connecting the SLU campus to the MetroLink station. Cowboy
-the news about car break-ins at Cortex is not good, I hope the developers or whoever needs to are taking security very seriously as this area is such a positive for the region
