TRN
Here you go, this is pretty ridiculous - http://www.ucsc.edu/about/campus_mascot.asp Unless SLUBALLS can come up with some ridiculous soccer/futbol nickname.

TRN
Okay, what the hell is a Hokie??? It looks like a deranged turkey to me. So VA Tech has a ridiculous nickname. And IU is pretty bad with the name Hoosier....in the STL sense.

Pistol
I never understood the need to differentiate between the men's and women's nicknames. Bears- why is Sugar Bears necessary? There are female bears. Why can't both just go by Bears? Like Lady Billikens, Lady Bears, Lady Tigers, etc. There are females of all these animals (though I'm not sure about Billikens), so why can't both men and women have the same name? That said, Sugar Bears is hilarious. Sounds like they're selling breakfast cereal.
cheeseman
A little history lesson - the Orphans name comes from when orphans were simply dumped on trains and sent west to hopefully find homes on farms as basically indentured servants. Centralia wears the nickname proudly because many of it residents are decendents of that group.
Box and Won
Is Pekin H.S. still the Chinks, or did they finally come up with something that billions of people won't find offensive?

Pistol
Some other great ones: Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils South Dakota Tech Hardrockers Colby College White Mules Centre College Praying Colonels Furman Paladins Western Carolina Catamounts Evergreen State College Geoducks William College Purple Cows Washburn Ichabods And don't forget the Richmond Spiders- I've always loved that one. Also interesting are the top 12 most used names of four-year college mascots: Eagles (74), Tigers (46), Bulldogs (39), Panthers (33), Knights (32), Lions (31), Bears (30), Hawks (28), Cougars (27), Pioneers (27), Warriors (27) and Wildcats (25). I thought for sure Wildcats would be #1, but I guess it takes into account all divisions.

GOPBilliken
Pekin's nickname is the Dragons...been that since about the early 90s. Bay Area Billiken
UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs is in a class of its own. Then there are the UC Irvine Anteaters. When Stanford changed its nickname from Indians to "Cardinal," the student body supposedly actually voted for Fighting Thunderchickens, but that was not allowed. Loyola Ramblers is an interesting one too. How about the Central Missouri Mules and the women's team, the Jennies?
