What Should The Standards Be?

A-10 Message Board - Mon, 08/23/2010 - 00:59
We have talked a lot about what the standards for conference membership should be...so what say you all?

I think there should be some kind of performance based standard, but I really don't know where to begin.

UD comes in at 48....not surprising considering last year's results: decent preview of the Flyers.

Who Will Be Your Double-Digit Scorers In 2010-11 ?

A-10 Message Board - Sat, 08/21/2010 - 14:32
2009-10 Atlantic 10 Scoring Leaders (Yahoo !)

It would be interesting to compile a preseason listing of the A10's predicted double-digit scorers for the 2010-11 season.

Please assist the fans of other schools who are interested in this topic by making predictions for your school's players, using the following guidelines:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lock: 90% to 100% probability that the player will average 10+ PPG in 2010-11.

Probable: 60% to 90% probability that the player will average 10+ PPG in 2010-11.

Possible: 40% to 60% probability that the player will average 10+ PPG in 2010-11.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please keep it real, and note that the combined number of players that you list as Lock and Probable should not exceed 5.

The reason is that teams very rarely have more than five players who all average 10+ PPG (although Xavier nearly did it in the 2004-05 season).

Feel free to add your commentary and/or analysis with your predictions.

OT: Reds > Cards

A-10 Message Board - Fri, 08/20/2010 - 18:35
Hmmmm I peruse the standings and what do I see? The Reds 3 1/2 games up on the Cards.

We cleverly let them shoot their wad against us last week, now they're reeling and we're REDS HOT!

For so many years there were no other competitive sports teams in town aside from XU. Now we have the Reds, Bengals and UC Football all doing well. Sure does help pass the off-season.

Anyhow..... suck it Cards! Your time at the top is over.

Temple lands a monster recruit. It's shocking this kid is available so late. 6-10 BEAST Jimmy McDonnell. Never heard of him? Well, you're not alone. He has no profile on the recruiting sites. But the kid has apparently BLOWN UP recently. He was all set to sign with D-II UMass-Lowell (not to be confused with regular old UMass, which plays Division I ball.) But his stock has risen like crazy and he recently landed offers from the likes of these D-I powerhouses:

Alcorn State
Southern
NJIT
Tennessee-Martin
Bryant
Coppin State
Marist

So, clearly, he could have gone anywhere, but he chose Temple. Sounds like he will be schooling fools in short order after an expected redshirt year in 2010-11. Congrats to the Temple faithful.

A10 is usually battling the MWC in the computer rankings. Don't know if the board has discussed how the MWC would be impacted by the departure of Utah and arrival of Boise State. I think it knocks them down a little. Now it's being reported that both Nevada and Fresno State will join the MWC. I think overall it's subtraction by addition for the MWC. It's also being reported that BYU is looking to leave, though I really doubt that happens.
